UGA is asking all to wear Pink to honor his wife’s passing due to cancer.
SIAP but I just heard that on the radio.

The only thing I've seen about this was literally 1 message board poster on another uga board. Had no idea UGA was doing anythign officially.
Call me a sourpuss but I don't really see the point behind it. Donate to cancer research, send him a card, there are hundreds of things that would make more sense than wearing a pink shirt to the game.

For those who don’t know, Blake Anderson is Arkansas State Coach who Georgia plays this week.

I agree. Wearing pink is simply virtue signaling. Want to help? A handwritten card or a financial donation of some kind is real help.

very much agree. It doesn't actually DO anything. And it'd be different if it was like an advertised school-wide thing...I know we have a few gymnastics meets every year that's a "pink out" and all of stegeman wears pink as do the gymnasts. That's at least somethign different and more official. Asking our fans at a football game to wear a pink shirt for the opposing coach...idk. I'll just wear red like I always do.

Thanks for the backstory.

It doesn't actually DO anything.

Reminds me of this story.

If it helps ease the pain of their coach who lost his wife even just a little bit, it makes a difference.

Support, no matter what form it comes in, means a lot.

Eh, that is a very linear way of thinking about it. Your other suggestions would be a good idea as well but there will be a ton of positive visual feedback even from very casual fans. You are going to get people very curious when they see a "pink out" from the highlights of the game or tuning into the on going game. The potential for support is much higher than simply asking for donations imo.
Another thing to consider is the people fighting the cancer at the moment. Does money help them? Of course but for many that doesn't really mean much at that moment. Unifying support like this can be just as powerful or if not more to an individual.

Does it cure cancer? No. But it’s a visible show of support and thoughtfulness for a man and his kids and a team and a program who are grieving on behalf of 92,000 people who don’t have to give a shite but do.
It’s absolutely worth doing and I’ve seen it all over Twitter and social media from UGA beat writers and reporters who are supporting it

This
When it has touched your life losing someone that way, you appreciate the effort to show support towards someone.
It was a classy gesture was my point. I guarantee it will mean something to the HC of Ark state.

The Red Wolves think they have a chance in Athens. 90,000 pink shirts are going to look silly going home after the upset.

Which means bowlcut will let up a bit. Take the Red Wolves and the points...and bet the under

UGA is my favorite fan base in the SEC.
It’s awesome to see how they embraced that kid from Southern that broke his neck.
I had an absolute blast with their fans at my tailgate this past year. I honestly wish we got to play them more often but then Bama would have to give up their automatic Tennessee win. Getting Bama to accept a more difficult schedule would be like trying to get oil from a water spout.

You are a sourpuss.
There's nothing wrong nor any harm done to honor someone in a public jesture that UGA is exercising, especially one associated with an opponent's team that is being hosted.
Fyi...UGA actually may have or will be making such a donation, etc., but not advertising it. You never know.

You do know that it was an Auburn fan that started this thread.
Don't confuse all Auburn posters with MsGarrison. They've actually got some pretty good posters. Unfortunately the MsGarrison troll threads give the good posters a bad name, too. But, take a good long hard look at our own fans. We have some pretty bad ones, too. Fortunately we have some really good ones, too.
