What worries me is the season hasn’t started.. even one of them can get banged up.. we are not looking good in the middle this year. This will be a huge problem that might not let us get past Atlanta.

The 1 position where we could ill afford losing any of the top 3, Jennings, Lewis, or Moses & mother fricker already happening before season kicks off. Shitty fricking luck as usual at that position.

This *has* to be a conditioning thing.
We have the best strength and conditioning program in the nation. It’s called practice and competing all-out for a position and to prepare to be your best. You can’t half-arse it and worry about injuries in practice. It sucks but shite happens.

SDH against Ohio State for example

We keep hearing that every year.. but the results seem the same. We are guaranteed 4 season ending injuries in warm ups

He got crack backed and a Elliott was gone.

It just is what it is - even if guys are great players unless that have otherwordly instincts that sort of stuff is gonna happen.......and it completely changes our defense.
I mean this is a nightmare scenario, there is no sugarcoating it.

Any chance we can hunt down Rolando McClain, call him Orlando McClain, and throw his arse out there
Posted on 8/28/19 at 9:49 am to SummerOfGeorge
Our D will get gashed on TE’s and RB slants.. it will be a long season with promise until we play a real team and it’s exposed again. Repeat last year.. frustrating

I have already offered in another thread to transfer my eligibility to ‘Orlando’ and it still stands.

I’m guessing we are gonna simplify the defense early

If this is true (i'm holding out a sliver of hope) is there a OLB that could slide to the middle?
Is this the opening that Ben Davis needs to make his triumphant mark on Bama football lore?

I'm starting to question the truth in this statement. A few years ago, I'd say you were 100% correct.

And it's been happening with increasing frequency over the last two years. There's no excuse for half the defensive roster to be on the IR list year in and year out.

My gosh

If we have to rely on Ben Davis we are in trouble.., Tua will just have to put up more points. Time for a Big12 style approach.. we will our score you

Dylan Moses was Kirk Herbstreit's guy for breakout season on the Herby awards.
Devastating blow & a position lacking depth & experience.

Something has changed. This is more than just bad luck right now.

As has been noted - the only silver lining here is that our schedule is back loaded. These guys will get some good tests early that should help them learn and gain experience (Duke, Carolina, Arkansas) before the big challenges come later in the year.
2 months of on the job training before the biggest challenges arise. It's indefinitely better than if this happened in late September. However, that assumes that Harris and Lee are truly elite talents who just need experience. It sounds like they are - which is good - but I think we still have to see that in games.
