Didn’t they win like 3 games last year?

Why the hell is Georgia relevant when they haven't won a natty in 39 years?

Because
>big name program
>media loves Scott frost and thinks he'll get it turned around
That's pretty much it

Over rated every year because “It’s Nebraska”.
Same thing with Texas, USC, and Notre Dame.

They return 7 starters on each side of the ball, including Adrian Martinez, who has star potential at quarterback. That, in addition to the fact that they lost five games last season by a total of 21 points, and you can see why a lot of people expect them to a significant jump in season two under Frost.

Because teams they were bad last year are not allowed to be good this year?
LSU was preseason #18 when we won in 2003.
Maybe voters saw something in the team to merit the ranking and they may have a shite schedule to win some games.
And why do you care about Nebraska?

Should also add that they have a rather favorable schedule. They avoid Michigan, Mich St, and Penn St.

Oooooh, somebody’s butt is hurt because his team has been owned by the Dawgs the last 2 years, and he knows what’s coming this year.
Relevant?.....not Florida in the last 10 years.

As much as I hated Nebraska in their heyday, I have really wanted to see them monster up again. Since their b12rexit, I have been rooting for them. Football needs another boogeyman, Dabo ain't doing it for me.

Besides the "Frost Factor"...
- OOC Opponents - South Alabama, Colorado and Northern Illinois.
- Toughest conference opponents, Ohio State and Wisconsin, are both in Lincoln. Bye week before Wisconsin.
- Finished 2018 4-3 with an OT 3 point loss at Northwestern, a 5 point loss at Ohio State and a 3 point loss at Iowa.
- Lots of preseason hype surrounding Adrian Martinez.
- Facing a bunch of bad offenses helps out their anemic defense.

Nebraska
Currently has the 3rd best odds to win the Big 10 and 8th best odds to win the Natty.
I plan on making some money off of them this year.

Same reason Notre Dame, Southern Cal, and Texas are 'ranked' every preseason. It isn't on actual merit.

Most of the AP writers who cover college football probably can't even name 20-25 teams outside the ones they cover. The fill out the top 10-15 teams and then add in teams based on name recognition.
That said Nebraska could easily win their division and make it to the Big 10 championship game. They have a really soft schedule and could pull the upset against OSU.
