I did AT&T for the past few years. It had worked well until recently. This past Auburn game I set everything up but now iPhone apps are programmed to know when you either have a hardwired an external connection or are using airplay and the apps I used would stop working as a safe guard. The WatchESPN app didn’t work for me at all. FOX and CBS did but that’s because they half assed their apps and you could just trick the app into playing and ignore the “slinging”.

I was several vodkas deep at 10am when I discovered this and my trouble shooting ended after a few curse words. Using my phone has always worked until then. Now? I’m not sure what the alternative is. Setting up a dish is such a pain in the arse but the apps on our phones may start fricking it up.

Now, I know DishNetwork has a specifically designed portable dome that is a dish. DirecTV had one but discontinued it but it may be back. Personally I’d prefer those if that is an alternative.

I’ve been eyeing the dish dome; seems that you pay a bit less than $400 once for the equipment and then about $85 per months for the months you want to use it.

So, after the first year you’re looking at $255 per year to have the dish for 3 months. Which is still pricey relative to a chrome cast and phone but your concerns are precisely what worries me about shoddy wifi
