Kind of like mushrooms on a supreme pizza. It doesn't really do much by itself, but just adds to the overall aesthetics of the work.

It's media marketing people doing media marketing things. Calm down and laugh a bit.
But to answer your question...doesn't really suck at all. While it would be nice to have the same success as football in every sport, IMO it's better to be elite in 1 or a few sports than to be above average among many.
At the end of the day, you'll be hearing about the number of Alabama national championships for the rest of your life, and I won't be hearing about the year Auburn made the final four in basketball while also winning a bowl game probably after tomorrow.

That is impressive especially football, basketball. and baseball. And had AU barely beaten Purdue maybe it would be cheesy to proclaim “bowl victory” but Auburn beat the piss out of them so I don’t see a problem with claiming it as an achievement.
