So Woodward doesn’t have to fire him.

He has no reason to and no they will not fire him. He still got the team to a Super Regional and LSU has had success under him. It isn't like he isn't even making the regionals anymore

Mainieri has a fully guaranteed contract with 5 years left on it at $1.125M per year, why would he resign?

Not at all. I would, however think that Paul may be persuaded to address some personnel issues within the staff such as hitting and pitching coaches.

He should retire but he will milk LSU for a few more years of money. He is just killing time.

I can't see PM retiring. I think he's too prideful to admit he's not the Coach he used to be. IMO he'll make us suffer through his incompetence for 10 more years until incompetence gives way to senility and the AD will be forced to fire him!

Next season results will be more scrutinized than any during his tenure. I really see them struggling with lack of top flight hitters in the lineup. The pitchers health will determine his fate.

Would you resign from a job that pays you a few million a year regardless of your performance?

Sure, and just like in football, Jon Gruden will jump at the chance to be our new coach.

OP doesn’t realize that CPM has more job security than any other baseball coach in the nation. Apparently because of the Matty 10 years ago.
