Our future non-conference football schedule sucks

I wanna play home and homes with teams like Washington, Wazzou, UCLA, Utah, Arizona State, TCU, Northwestern, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, BC, Virginia, etc.
Instead, we get:
2019: at Memphis, v. Cal
2020: v. Baylor in Houston
2021: v. Louisville in Atlanta
2022: at Georgia Tech
2023: at Tulane; v. Georgia Tech
2024: at Wake Forest
2025: v. Wake Forest
Basically, we play no one outside of the south.
Meanwhile, State plays home and homes with Kansas State, NC State, Arizona, Arizona State, Minnesota, and Texas Tech over the next 10 years.
It’s clear there is no energy around our program. None.
Thanks again for nothing, Ross Bjork.

To be fair to Ross which is painful Baylor, Memphis, and GT were all respectable when we scheduled them

Wake forest is the only bd one. The rest were all good in recent history.

I’m not talking about the talent of the teams we are playing.
We aren’t leaving the south or playing teams from outside the south . . . at all.

I could be wrong, but California isn't considered the south...
Also, what the heck does it matter?? We're playing in areas with the best recruits; Texas, Atlanta, etc.

So we have one game scheduled outside of the south in a 6 year span. Neat.
Also, the thread was about FUTURE non-conference opponents. Apparently you missed that.

I'm referencing this. We play Cal, thats outside of the south. Again I will ask, why does that matter? Are we going to be better by playing teams in California? Michigan? No. Also, which team from the south is volunteering to go outside of the south to play?

A shite ton of teams, every SEC team except Ole Miss and the SEC teams that play ACC teams every year are scheduled to play a game outside the south in the future. Even Alabama who pretty much schedules nothing but neutral site games has a game scheduled outside the south.
Hell Ole Miss didn't even play a Pac-12 team till they played Cal a few years ago, we are one of the worst P5 teams at scheduling games.

No not every SEC team. Bama doesn't have a game outside of the south till 2028.... in Indiana. Thats just the first one I clicked on.. Looking at our current future OOC games I see a pac12, big 12, and 3 ACC teams. I'm sorry but I don't get what the issue is. I also don't see why you would go play in Michigan or something if you didn't have to. And the only argument I've seen is "everyone else does it"

Did you even read what I said?

Why would we go out of the south when our recruiting footprint is the south?

This.
Also until we can rebuilt I don't give a shite about playing crappy teams. Give me 4 OOC wins and a better chance at a bowl. It doesn't matter what other fans say about our OOC schedule....we'll either beat or lose to them all the same.
Worry about higher profile OOC games and national recruiting footprint when we get a couple 8-9 win seasons under our belt.

I don't think its that bad. I would replace Memphis with SMU and replace Wake Forest with Miami, FSU, or TCU. Focus on hot recruiting areas and winnable games.

What games would you consider winnable under Luke?
Posted on 2/1/19 at 4:29 pm to Landmass
We would have a chance to beat SMU, FSU, and Miami last year because they were pretty bad. If we are looking for wins only i guess its Rutgers, Kansas, Oregon State, Illinois and Colorado.
