Women are your national champs! Give em some love on social media people, they deserve it. Good start to the 2020 academic triple crown. A calendar year triple crown is rare too, just doesn’t count for the books.

People complain about Anderson but Bucknam is the one that should have been fired yesterday.

Hard to be the guy that follows a legend.

True statement
Another shining example of expectations and standards being lowered by the administration on the Hill.

While I agree that Bucknam is the Guy Fieri of Athletics, ole Hunter signed both him and Anderson to extensions in 2018 I believe. I don't really have an opinion on that though.
Seems like the good ole boys are loving them some Anderson and Bucknam since I've been lead to believe that he's (Hunter) their stooge.
It is what it is. Vote with your asses and wallets, or don't, it's only college athletics after all.

I would wager that Yurachek signed these guys to extensions because he is smart enough to separate history from the now.
To build a successful program, you don't look at what happened in the past and hold the current people to that standard. Why? Because college athletics is a dynamic system. It's always evolving.
What you have to do is look at what you have NOW and decide if that is worth your support. And while being ranked #8 isn't what we are accustomed to, it is a far sight from something you get rid of. That's what the GOBN would do. And it's why the GOBN was eventually ran out on a rail.

The women haven't been able to put together a national title run in track for a few years but they've been hanging around the top of the rankings. Hopefully they can pull it off this time. Its going to be tough, the SEC has a lot of talented women's track teams and Nike is shelling out money left and right to buy runners for Oregon.
As for the men... ranked 8th in the country would be wonderful most places but its a disappointment here. The powers that be sure seem to like Bucknam for some reason. I think its time to start looking for the next great track coach at Arkansas rather then settle for the fairly good one we have now.

Bucknam isn't a terrible coach per se, he recruits his own problems though. He can't seem to put together a complete team.
I'm really curious about his training philosophies, especially on the distance side, because this is where we fell off the most from McDonnell.

Right. He's not a horrible coach, but he doesn't seem up to the job of heading an elite squad. There always seems to be a piece or two of the puzzle missing.

Women have a strong day one showing leading the pack, Men currently trailing in 4th.
Razorback Invitational Results Link
Men took a first in the weight throw in an otherwise absent field in the field events. 4th place finish from our only qualifier in 200. 2nd Place finish in a very slow distance medley.
Women took first and second in the pole vault. Interestingly had no other competitors in the field events. Took first in the pentathlon as well. Lots of big showings in the 200.
Action resumes at 11:30. If you’re in the area, I think tickets are 5 at the door. You can watch @ SEC, SEC+ starting @1:03pm.

We have a shot at a national title from this women's team. Note that we are beating our arch-rival Oregon so far. LSU continues to rebuild their women's track team which is good for the sport but will be a pain for us.
The men aren't dead last at the event.

If the rankings are any indicator, they are right where they are supposed to be (3/4th). Anything higher than 3rd would be a coup and huge momentum for the men's team.
Women are taking care of business as usual.

Taylor Werner makes the women's 3000 field her bitch winning by damn near 100 meters. Big comeback for her after the car accident last year.

Kiera Parker shows everyone she's the GOAT of the Arkansas 60m 7.15. Meet and school record.

Men are 22nd right now. I hope we get a great meet from the men and women because if the men have a bad showing they probably drop out of the top 25.
The Arkansas men's track program not being in the top 25 is like Alabama dropping out of the top 25 in football.
The women need to keep rolling up the points and put themselves in a good spot to compete for a national title. This could be a really special year for them.

The men will drop out but that won't be because they'll have a poor showing, it'll be because they split their squad. As much as it pains me to say so, it's the right move.
Tyson is a sprinter's showcase but there's no competition for the distance guys.
2 weeks ago we finished ahead of LSU at our home meet and dropped 5 spots while LSU moved up 4. I guess what I mean is don't get discouraged unless we lay a turd @ SEC in 2 weeks. That was the same meet Oregon won and I think they dropped as well.
I am NOT defending Bucknam, but this team although incomplete, is pretty good for who they got.

Man, men’s team has really fallen
On another note, Lauren Gregory is gonna be an absolute stud here it looks like.

In case anyone was wondering how the rankings work...
Basically teams are ranked per performance per event. Multiple high scoring times per team per event means more points. Points are awarded based on times or distance, height, etc. set by the NCAA. Because of this, depth counts just like in an actual meet.
I tried to explain that best I could. Apologies if there's a semantic error or two.
ETA: It's a cumulative season long tally.
