That was the type of loss that changes a program 1 way or another

We've had the "Never Again" type stuff in an offseasons before, but we've never ended a year being manhandled and embarrassed like this.

This offseason is either 7 months of pure, visceral, 2008 level anger or guys have tuned out, the process is slowly unraveling and it is truly the beginning of the end.

Honestly don't know which way it goes. Even if things start unraveling it won't necessarily show up in 2019, but the signs will continue to fester.

Only time will tell.

We gifted them a pick TD and pissed away 25 points on four drives where we reached 1st and goal but only scored 3 points total. 7 + 25 = 32. We lost by 28. And we threw a pick in the red zone on another drive. We could've (should've) won that game.

I was very disappointed in our defensive plan and calls. Venables did a great job with the variety of disguised blitzes. We were very vanilla, rushing 3 most of the time and showing our blitzes when we did call them. We made it easy for Clemson's offense. Our goal-to-go offensive play calling was very bad.

This loss was not like the final score. And it falls much more on a poor job of in-game coaching than on the players or anything else, imo.

You're actually pretty right on.

This upcoming season is the first one i'm becoming genuinely excited about since maybe kiffin's first year.

2014 was probably the last season where there was alot of mystery surrounding alabama.

There's now a whole lotta mystery heading into 19.

I happened to agree. I can see this being something that propels us forward or signals the beginning of the end because it shatters the narrative of Alabama Football.

As you said, this is such new territory. Last night was so emasculating that it could easily go in either direction.

Anyone else notice in the oklahoma game that when a player messed up and saban yelled at them, they just walked right past him and ignored him? I think this group was too stuck on themselves to be coachable.

Im actually not that down today. I would have been down if we had lost by 1 though. Getting completely smashed, but at the same time having a great coach like Saban with lot of young talent and the #1 recruiting class has me a lot to look forward too. But there will need to be some serious changes. I think this beat down will propel Saban forward to making dynamic changes and the players to get grounded to work hard during the offseason. If we were going to lose this is the best way it could happen to get us going for next year.

Already excited for 2019! At least we are playing for National Championships and not a team like Arizona St, L8U, Purdue etc.

Manhandled no, embarrassed yes.

Bama gave them 14 points. The pick six and the play where Smith was injured and couldn't make the tackle.

Bama left about 28 points on the field. Clemson only forced 2 punts, they didn't slow down Bama's offense. Bama did that themselves.

Defense just couldn't get off the field on 3rd and long.

Will be nice not to be the top dog next year. A motivated Bama team is always hard to stop. That is what you will have in 19, a motivated Bama team.

I agree and I am honestly ok with either outcome. If it's over then it's been real and I look forward to telling my grandchildren about coach Saban like I heard about coach Bryant when I was a kid. We will still contend for titles as long as we don't Tennessee up the coaching search when he inevitably retires. He won't continue coaching for less than championship type seasons.

I don't think it's over.

The bad part is that we probably won't know for sure until the SECCG in 2019 thanks to the pathetic schedule.

This was one of the more undisciplined teams Saban has had. Lots of mental mistakes, blown assignments and really bad penalties. It all came out last night and I don't expect that to roll over next year. I don't predict perfection but we just saw the perfect storm of bad football.

I think the offense will carry us again next year and the defense will need an overhaul. We need some fresh talent and we need some guys to be more mature.

I agree but it all depends on a group of players deciding to be leaders starting now. Not sure who they are though.

If you want to know if this game was a program changer or not watch how we play next season.
Do we have an inexplicable loss or losses. Do we make the Playoffs? How do we play when we get there?
The 2020 recruiting class, wont be a large class but will it have quality top to bottom?
Those are the main clues I'll look for among other signs.
