Big 10 Wants CFP Selection Protocol Reviewed
It's no surprise that as certain teams and conferences start getting left out of the playoffs, attempts to adjust format is going to occur in order to gain access.
I just say don't lose by 4 touchdowns to Purdue and you are in.

We have the CFP because the B1G and PAC got their panties in a wad when they have not been relevant for the past several decades. They pushed for the CCG's as entre to the CFP then Penn State won and they let in Ohio State instead.

In the same number of games that Notre Dame played Ohio State was also undefeated with 50 points more over common opponents and a conference title
The questions are valid

There needs to be a set criteria, and the "eye test" should not be one of them.
Alabama will always have the eye test advantage because of inherent bias. It's the worst point ever made.
The entire selection process is pretty pathetic, IMO.

I think we should investigate why Ohio State got in the 2016 playoff, then were shut out 31-0.

The committee should just send Jim Delany the Purdue Ohio State tape to review

This.
If Alabama had lost to Vandy by 28, we wouldn't get in either.
Seriously, there were three undefeateds in P5 (Alabama, Clemson, ND). That left two 1-loss teams. One lost to a ranked, 9 win Texas team that they were able to defeat later on - and only by 3 points. The other lost to FREAKIN' PURDUE by 4 TDs.

They have a point. Only a few fan bases are good with the eye test. As someone who has never had CFB in my favorite sport category; having a committee to choose your playoff teams is hilarious. Put all the value in the regular season, and make conference championship's a requirement. Have two play in games to capture the 4 best teams outside of those. BUT you have to play your way in. You can't get a pass like Bama in 17 amd get a month to heal while UGA and other teams are forced to fight it out.

The ~7th best SEC team outperformed Ohio State by 77 points against Purdue. I know that common opponents aren't the end all be all of comparing teams and Auburn probably wouldn't beat Ohio State by 77 points, but still.

Maybe don’t do the following in one season:
1. Be down 2 scores in the 4th against Penn State
2. Be in a one score 4th Quarter game against 6-6 TCU
3. Be in a 1 score 4th Quarter game against 6-6 Minnesota
4. Go to Overtime with 5-7 Maryland
5. Play 8-5 Northwestern in your conference championship
6. Almost lose at home to 4-8 Nebraska
7. Get beat by 6-6 Purdue by 30

Interesting that it's always Jim Delaney bringing this up.
His conference has 2 football titles and 1 basketball title over the last 20 years.

This isn't new, and Delaney is right to ask for clarification from the committee who can't get four teams right.

They should spend their time working with the HC's of their programs.

Even better, beat Purdue by 40 points

I didn't expect such a reaction. This topic really struck a nerve.
All I can say is that for the most part, the top 2 teams that have competed for the National Title in each of the years on the Playoffs for the most part have been significantly better than the other 2 teams that made the dance.

All the bitching and jockeying for the right to get beat by Alabama is getting old.
The big 12 was bitching about it too, but the CFP Committee threw them an unjustified bone, so they remained silent, especially after the 1st quarter, when Alabama was giving the money shot.
Of course, UCF would have been bitching about it, but they failed to beat LSU's 3rd string.
Then, there's Georgia, who would have had a somewhat legitimate gripe about getting left out, had they not let LSU make sweat love to their quivering anuses and subsequently proved they didn't belong by getting absolutely punked, outplayed, and out coached by an inferior Texas squad.
Notre Dame proved they didn't belong. After Michigan got bukkakked by a huge load of gator spunk, that ND SOS is starting to look highly suspect.
The best game Clemson played all year was on the road at A&M, which could have easily been a loss and nearly was.
As far as I am concerned, only one team had a superior claim to a spot in the CFP: Alabama
The unfortunate (or fortunate, whatever) result of all this horse shite is an 8-game playoff format when the current 12-year contract expires in 2026. By then, Nick Saban will either still be coaching at Alabama or dead. He will never retire.
So, just buckle up and put on your rain gear, because we're in for another 7 years of tears and incessant CPF sobbing about being snubbed for the pleasure of being Alabama's jizz rag.
In sum: Quit bitching and take your beatings from Saban's third leg.
