The 1999 Fiesta Bowl in Arizona had over 80k in attendance. The two teams were from the Southeast, Tennessee vs Florida State.
San Fran is one of the if not most expensive city in the country.
Phoenix is not. (went there for the final four when we made it)
That said, I don't know how you couldn't go out there. Make a vacation out of it, spend some time in wine country. Then head to the game.
You gotta always make a trip if your team is in a big situation like that, I know I would.
ETA: that said I just looked up flights and they're around 500 bucks.
On this short notice that really isn't bad at all.

Last year was a “regional” game and if I’m not mistaken got the highest ratings ever.
Also, this is wrong.

And people are sick of Alabama and Clemson. Their owns fans are getting bored with it themselves.

A whole $1500? To watch your team play in a *championship game? No. fricking. Way.
It starts adding up when it's every year.

Everything I see (from Montgomery, Birmingham, or Atlanta) is still around 1k.

expand to whatever - 8 - 16 & u will see what happens! the normal person(fan) cannot travel from conference championship to (for example) miami, then cal, then to new orleans!
That's why if they expand, the 1st round should be a home game for the higher ranked teams.

$1500 a year, you can't budget that?
Usually around bonus season. Maybe use some of that?

So...like I said, no one cares. Not even their fans.

AHHH my bad, I'm looking from NYC.
even my flight from NYC to PHX last second (when we made the final four) was something like $480

Explain how making Gumps look like Gumps correlates to an interest in a game...

A lot of people probably spent an extra $1k this past weekend going to Miami. A lot of those same people probably spent $500 going to Atlanta earlier in December.

A lot of those people have been fans since 2009.

You make it sound like we were playing in front of an empty stadium prior to then.

Sure, but my wife is 7 months pregnant, so it doesn't matter where it is or how much the tickets or travel cost. Wasn't going either way.

No I don't.

This is what happens when no one cares about the game.
That isn't it.
If the game was being held in New Orleans, Georgia, or Florida, then ticket prices(secondary market) would still be high.
These 2 teams have been in the playoff 4 out of 5 years. Their fans just aren't willing to pay the cost of travel to the game.

This one will have great ratings as well, because people tune in to watch Alabama. Haters like you are great for business.
You guys truly underestimate how much Alabama fatigue is out there amongst CFB fans. It's nothing personal, people just get tired of seeing the same thing again and again.
