A lot of people probably spent an extra $1k this past weekend going to Miami. A lot of those same people probably spent $500 going to Atlanta earlier in December.

Does no one budget a certain amount for an emergency fund? Maybe in case you're laid off?

And for Bama, knowing how successful they've been, why not just not going to the Semi Final?

Sure, but my wife is 7 months pregnant, so it doesn't matter where it is or how much the tickets or travel cost. Wasn't going either way.

That's a very fair argument and has nothing to do with money.
If my wife was 7 months pregnant I wouldn't even travel to Atlanta for the SEC Title game.

If you're using your emergency fund on football trips, you're doing it wrong.

Yeah if they expand they will have to make the first round home game for higher seeded team if they want attendance plus you keep the regular season games meaning more like the NFL.

Realized that.

What about a bonus?

These 2 teams have been in the playoff 4 out of 5 years. Their fans just aren't willing to pay the cost of travel to the game.

So...their own fans don't even care.

I mean it's pretty simple - if this game was within 10-12 hours of Alabama/Clemson the tickets would be expensive.

San Francisco is a fly-only expensive trip on last minute notice for 2 teams who has spent lots and lots of money on football the last 5-6 seasons. A lot of people either truly cannot afford it or have decided it's a terribly unwise decision to do it, not to mention it falls on a Monday after the "accepted" vacation period for a lot of people.

It is what it is. I'll be there, looking forward to it, but I damn sure don't hold it against anyone who won't be.

I'm done paying $500+ to go to a college football game.

Let's hear more about how your position on ticket sales to Bama games never being an issue, you were really on to something there

I've seen enough college football games/championships to not want to pay $250+ to go to a game.

$500 once a year isn't that much.

I'm not saying it's much. I can easily afford it. I just don't want to do it.

The 1999 Fiesta Bowl in Arizona had over 80k in attendance. The two teams were from the Southeast, Tennessee vs Florida State.

Santa Clara is not Fiesta Bowl or Rose Bowl.

It is fricking out of the way and a horrible destination. Sheesh

Bryant–Denny holds 100k. Even their "fans" don't care.
