Lowest priced ticket is $112. End zone seats in the lower field level are $195.

This is using Ticketmaster, not sure what the other sites have them priced at.

This is what happens when you put the national championship out in California in an undesirable location at that with 2 teams from the southeast.

I said this a week ago: By game time, tickets will be hitting the floor at the stadium.

With the Raiders and 49ers in the area, you'd think folks would want to go out to watch a couple of decent teams play.

Especially when those 2 teams have been there 4 out of 5 years.
If either of these teams were making their first appearance in the last 5 years then their fans would be travelling and willing to pay the big prices.

Edit:

For example if it would have been in Cali last year Georgia Fans would have still paid the big bucks for seats. They would have because they haven't won a championship since before electricity.

If you’ve ever wanted to go to Cali and watch a NC game, this is the time.

They probably will. Except they will be buying the seats at face value or less right after kickoff

The 1999 Fiesta Bowl in Arizona had over 80k in attendance. The two teams were from the Southeast, Tennessee vs Florida State.

Tickets were $500+ for the Rose Bowl game last year and it was 75% UGA fans. If any SE teams besides Bama / Clemson were in this game, tickets would be over $300. Bama fans just figure they'll wait til next year when the game is closer to attend.

I am willing to travel and pay big prices but the biggest sticking point is the airfare... Previously, I could gamble on BAMA making the NCG and purchase airfare far enough in advance to make it affordable... BAMA makes the game, I use the airfare... BAMA doesn't, I move the tickets around and vacation in the area... I wasn't willing to take the chance of having airfare to the Bay Area because it offers absolutely nothing as a vacation spot for me... So, you could say my mind was made up when they announced the game in such a shitty location...

The first thing to always remember is that all of the seats have been sold.

They were sold at face value of the ticket. Face value is all that the programs and the venue received.

Who should care if ticketmaster or scalpers/speculators get screwed on ticket prices?

This is what happens when no one cares about the game.
