It's all about expectations. As a coach, you want your team to settle for nothing less than championships, but the down side to that is what we saw happen to Georgia. I guarantee Saban'll tell you the same thing.
Which is fine - but you better damn well win some of those championships.

quote:again, I agree in part. UT was never a playoff/nat'l champion contender like Georgia until the last game. UT DID obviously want it more.
Agreed, UT was also a runner up, but they were hungry and glad to be in a New Year's day's 6. They simply wanted the win more and it showed.

same My cousin got up and left with like 8 minutes to go and I was like, well thats my ride so peace out and roll tide guys. xD I was ready to go anyway but I wasn't about to get up and leave on my own. Was kind of glad when he jumped up, threw his drink and said frick this.

Exactly. Not sure why OP is trying to let UGA off the hook and making the excuses for them.

You are just going to have these type of games in the future. One team is disappointment and deflated and another is on the rise with something to prove.
Happened to Bama against Utah and OU.

Being disappointed for the Oklahoma game I get Bama had won three national titles and was one play away from going again. Georgia’s not there yet and if they think they are they need a new perspective.

The CFP changed everything with Bowl games, and it is now even worse with players sitting out. That number will continue to grow, as players just decide its not worth the possibility of injury
Only exception will be playoff games
College football post season is garbage and needs reform terribly.

Very true. But it doesn’t excuse it, does it? The guy on Game Day (Bear?) noted that say what you will about Orgeron’s perceived x’s and o’s acumen, he has his team ready to play (like yesterday).

quote:Hell no it doesn't excuse it...it just makes it human, and a total nightmare for a coach who preaches "championships" to his team after any hope for one is gone.

Texas is a good team that is quickly getting better and better with a proven good coach. With no other games to be played, Ehlinger ran the ball really hard sacrificing his body for a lot of tough yards that moved the chains and got points. He was the difference in the game.

Oregon has no X's and O's acumen. He relies extensively on his coordinators, which isn't really a bad thing

I disagree on the didn't show up scenario . Bama maybe was disappointed in 2008 after having a great season, but the D was made to stop the power run game, not the spread. Granted, the team didn't show much heart against Utah, but OK spanked that arse and caused coach Saban to further evolve his defensive philosophy.
Both loses helped Coach Saban build his dynasty. It's a testament to what a great coach he is.

So you don't think that Alabama's 5 turnovers to Oklahoma's 1 had much to do with it? Alabama outgained Oklahoma 516 yds. to 429. Imo, turnovers tend to be a focus problem.

This is easy. It's because as Alabama fans, we, for the most part, dont hate Georgia. We love Kirby. We mostly enjoy them. Auburn on the other hand..... frick y'all

Auburn's like a catfish...you let off the hook and they just get back on.

From failure you learn. From success, not so much. Tis the way of life.

But don't forget that success breeds success. You must experience success to learn how to deal with it.
Good example:
When Kentucky's Snell scored his final TD to make it 27-7 Kentucky with over a quarter left, Kentucky mentally closed up shop. You could tell from all the celebration on their bench that they thought the game was over. Penn St. nearly came back and beat them. Both Kentucky players and coaches have a lot to learn about how and when to put a game away...that game may have helped do that.

But must also be humbled by failure occasionally to learn to appreciate continued success, therefore learning yet another lesson.
We're Bama. Even when we lose we win.
