Just saw this posted on Twitter by Auburn Overtime who seems like to be a legitimate insider:
Freeze wants a multi year deal to come to Auburn and Auburn doesn’t want to give him one. Auburn has offered him a 1 year contract.
Give the man a 3 year deal and be done with it. Don’t screw this up Auburn.

I can not blame him. He understands that Gus is a lame duck coach and has one more year.
Freeze needs to come in and have an explosive offense and he could possibly get a second chance as a HC when Gus is fired.

Its not unheard of. Aranda was given a multi year deal no matter who the coach was. Although I doubt Freeze would stay 3 years so why would that be a sticking point?

Freeze wants a multi year deal (don’t blame him) because he thinks Gus likely gets canned next year. AU doesn’t want to give a multi year deal because they are likely banking on Gus getting canned next year. So what’s the root problem here?

Why come to Auburn over Tennessee? Friendship with Gus? Seems UT is getting better and Auburn is, well, the part in Titanic where the bow has disappeared.

UTs offense is a complete mess... QB depth chart sucks... OL is terrible, and their best O lineman may never play again. They’ve got some skill position talent... but hell, so do we. Garantano, when he’s not hurt, is mediocre at best (unless he’s playing us apparently)

The consensus around other boards is the AU BOT are pulling out the holier than art thou card and playing the moral high road.

We have a chance to improve with a guy like Freezus and these wizards in charge are effin it up! Or maybe they don't want to hire him because that means he will help Gus and they won't be able to fire him next year?

I say sign Freeze to a 3 year deal and fire Gus after next season and Freeze can be the interim for 2 years to see what he can do at Auburn as HC.
