Should this be Notre Dame's last chance?

If they get their asses kicked on the big stage again should the committee tell them to kick rocks until they join a conference? I sure hope so.

I mean who honestly thinks ND has a chance to win this thing? Does anyone think they're better than Georgia and OSU just because they went undefeated with their pussy schedule with no conference title game?

Notre Dame historically gets more credit than they deserve. Their bowl record is evidence of this. They get hyped up and play a team that smacks them around, unless they play LSU. Seriously though, they play a decent schedule. They just do not dominate anyone (in before nd fan says syracuse). Ball State by 8, Vandy by 5, Pitt by however many and a bad USC team by 7 is not elite. Their players are smart and winners, but Clemson is going to outclass them in my opinion. Either way, it will be fun to watch. I cannot wait to see them travel to Athens next year and play the Bulldogs on the road.

It’s LSUs fault, they started this winning streak.

To answer your question. I think they are a good team. I don’t think they are one of the best 4, but they are undefeated with a good schedule so they are a worthy playoff team. Hard to pick 4 when what they want changes year to year. They are 1 of the top 6 teams in the nation, for sure.

It would have been nice to see them play Clemson last Saturday for the ACC. Playoff imo would be:

1) Alabama
2) Clemson
3) Oklahoma
4) Ohio State

All conference champs- thus no bitching

Actually they went undefeated against a good schedule and they have earned the right to be in the playoff.
USC, FL ST, Stanford, VA Tech and Navy had down years but are normally stout opponents.
They beat conference finalists Northwestern and Pitt. Also beat Michigan. Also beat Vandy , a solid SEC team.

ND’s schedule is every bit as good as the other three play off teams if not better. They have a national following and are good for TV ratings. Why all the hate for the Irish? They are a good football team.

I am pulling for them to beat Clemson. Nobody is beating Bama anyway so the finale is going to be a moot point. Rather see ND-Bama than Clemson-Bama.

I think it is their inability to blow out decent teams coupled with their history of shitting the bed in bowl games.

C'mon man! They played 7 teams with losing records.

The 5 teams with winning records - Stanford 8-4; Pitt 7-6; N'Western 8-5; Syracuse 9-3; and Mich 10-2 (who had 62 points hung on them by Ohio St)

Solid -- as in, not a liquid or a gas?

Yeah, their schedule turned out to be fool's gold.

I thought they were a much better team last year despite having 3 losses.

Typically, I always think Notre Dame is overrated year in and year out.
This year, I really do think they played well enough to earn their spot.
Personally, I think they can really give Clemson a game and i would not be surprised to see them pull it out.

The schedule on paper looked very strong.
Not ND’s fault that Stanford, USC, Va Tech, Navy and FL St all crapped the bed this year. Those teams are historically good.

Still had wins over Vandy, Michigan, Cuse, Wake Forest, Pitt, Northwestern. Yes, Vandy is a solid team this year capable of playing with anybody outside Bama.

11 P5 wins. That is as good as Clemson and Okie and more than Bama(10 P5 wins).

Beat Syracuse 36-3 while Clemson beat them 27-23. I keep seeing the Pitt score comparison but nobody wants to show this one because it does not fit their narrative.

ND will give Clemson all they can handle and may just beat them.
Also, next year look for ND to play very well in Athens and they may just sneak out of there with a win.

I blame the Aggies for the amount of circlejerking going on around here recently.

Well, Vandy wasn’t capable of playing with UGA.

In truth ND’s schedule looked WAY better when put together. But it turned out to be a joke.

And ND will get arse raped in Athens next hear. I wouldn’t be surprised if ND cancels.

Should it be? Yes.

Will it be? No.
