He is a third year player in the league, as opposed to two rookies. Drake is a good back, but I don't see him on the same level as the other backs we've been discussing.

I'm just saying that, if we are talking current, it seems strange that Drake wouldn't even make the list when he is having a better year than Michel and Chubb.

Well, I stand corrected. Drake should be replacing Richardson on the 4v4 list.

Fair point. You could switch Richardson and Lacy.

Yeah, if we're accounting for NFL career too, that's exactly what I'd do. Richardson had incredible physical tools, even by NFL standards, but horrible awareness.

My main problem is that the NFL adds a new wrinkle that really complicates any argument about a particular college's players. A player can be underutilized or misused in college and find a much better system in the pros (see: half of LSU's WRs over the last decade) or a player can be utilized perfectly in college but latch onto a NFL team that can't work it out (see: every single Browns first-round draft pick.)

See: Danielle Hunter

I agree with you, and would add that my views on these backs contains a lot of extrapolation on how the two rookie UGA backs will adapt to NFL personnel. I am ready to change my mind when the dust settles.

It's been a breath of fresh air. Bama about to be WRU and DLU for sure though!

Gurley is so good. Ridiculous.

Chubb is starting to make a name for himself in the NFL. Today Nick broke the Brown's record for the longest TD run. Nick's 92 yard TD eclipsed HOFer Bobby Mitchell's 90 yarder.

Gurley is tops in my estimation. UGA is RBU.

Eh, I can really see Alabama's side of the argument and can't really disagree. While I'd love to say UGA had a clear cut claim to the title, it's just too contested.

Travis Etienne if LSU hadn’t let us poach him from their own backyard.

I remember preseason saying snell might be the #3 back at uga. Folks disagreed. Looks about right though.

You're absolutely kidding yourself if you think Drake is a better NFL back than either Michel or Chubb, right now

Michel's dealt with injuries and Chubb wasn't a feature back until Hyde was traded away but there's a pretty huge separation between them and Drake

And I'm not going to say either Scarlett or Perine has been "the best back in the league" but both have been really good, and to be fair to them, it would be pretty much impossible for them to be the best back in the league splitting carries on an offense without a vertical passing game

Scarlett will be a really good NFL back imo

I'd go with Vaughn. 7.5 ypc playing for Vandy is damn impressive.

And Drake didn't make the cut, yet has had a better year so far than Chubb, and Michel? Interesting.

I'm sorry but Snell should be out of this conversation. Dude had yardage early in the season cause he plays with an offense that has no choice but to rely on him... Snell is an interchangeable fall forward RB in the NFL, sorry... I think Swift is the most talented and has greatest upside of anyone I've seen this year.

Bo Scarborough, didn't you know he is the best RB to ever play at Alabama? Or so we are told every year that whoever is in their backfield is the best in CFB.

Well stats tell a completely different story. So, I'm really not sure what other argument you actually have, besides an "eye test," and that Chubb is just now given the full load(something that Drake has been dealing with as well.)" Chubb might end up being an all-pro, but to say that there is a huge separation between Drake and those two guys is laughable and really based on zero evidence.
