If there's one thing hipsters love, it's building the biggest home on the smallest piece of property.
The neighborhood was built in the 20s when houses were smaller. If you want to expand your home you have to do it in that small area.
quote:
I've never understood the reasoning behind that. If I'm going to plow that much money into building a home I don't want my neighbors to be close enough they can reach out their window and touch my house.
The reason why is because it is a great historic area with a close-knit community. The properties also retain their values.

I like Baker's chances in the runoff.

Really?
Little Rock sucks so badly because those of us who don't live there make suggestions about why it sucks so badly?
Outsider opinions cause crime and corruption there? Who knew!

A new poll released by Public Policy Polling reveals the Little Rock mayoral race between Baker Kurrus and Frank Scott, Jr. is a statistical toss-up.

Of the 685 voters surveyed with a +/- 5 percent margin of error, 43 percent said they will choose Scott, 38 percent will choose Kurrus, and 20 percent are still undecided.

LR still has its share of liberal Democrats living there—basically it, PB and the Delta are the remaining blue zones. We just have to keep the cancer from spreading.
Well said. Liberalism should be likened to cancer. I'm amazed at how it's spread and has become so ingrained into the public schools.

Frank Scott Jr. has been elected Little Rock’s next mayor. His opponent, Baker Kurrus, conceded shortly after 8:30 p.m. At that time, unofficial results from the Pulaski County Election Commission showed Scott with 9,590 votes and Kurrus, with 5,025 votes. Only early and absentee votes had been counted. Scott, an adviser to former Gov. Mike Beebe who served on the state Highway Commission, becomes the first African American elected mayor of Little Rock, where divisions linger long after nine black students were escorted past an angry white mob into Little Rock Central High School in 1957.

Poor Little Rock being held back by meanies in Northwest Arkansas.
Maybe Little Rock could learn something from Northwest Arkansas for Christ's sake.

You know how I know you don't live here? Ask anyone voting in Little Rock what their issues were and you'd hear some combo of schools, highways, police, etc., with an eye to the future. All of those things have leadership that's gamed their way to being in control, leadership that doesn't live or vote in Little Rock, and leadership we can't vote on either. NWA has little to do with it outside of having representatives that grant the State the power to grossly overextend their authority in terms of school takeover and the 30 crossing project. A huge majority of police don't live here, either.
Self-determination of a city and leadership accountability is incredibly important to maintaining a vibrant community. I'm not thrilled about the incredible state overreach in my city, and if it happened in your town, I'd like to think i'd be on your side too.

Its ridiculous that LR even has a Mayor, the position is basically powerless.
Bruce Moore runs the city and has for years, the Mayor is just a puppet of the Council

First off, good for Mr. Scott.
Secondly, nicely placed dramatic end to author of the quote. Don’t forget everyone everywhere hates each other according to the press.

Good job Little Rock. Enjoy your upcoming Sanctuary City status.

Update:
His first goal is to change LR's form of Gov't to give the Mayor all of the authority and he wants to add new wards, which are all in minority communities.
LR is already a dumpster fire, just sit back and watch the rest of it burn (not racist)
