Can't tell you how excited we are to see an Iron Bowl! We started this Rivalry Tour in 2016 with a great experience in Baton Rouge for LSU/Bama (looking forward to Saturday).
Rivalry Tour
Recap

As we prepare for Tuscaloosa, I wanted to reach out and see if anyone had further suggestions for our itinerary?

Friday - Arrive in Birmingham. Dinner at Highlands Bar and Grill. Staying at the Redmont.

Saturday - Driver picks us up at 9am and head to TTown. Thinking we hit Gallettes first. Should we hang on the Strip for a while or straight to the Quad?
I know the BB museum gets a lot of press. As "outsiders" would we enjoy it or just focus on the tailgates?
Definitely will catch walk of champions and Elephant Stomp. Any other suggestions or must do's??
Thanks in advance. We can't wait.

Try to get seats in the auburn section. You'll be able to stretch out by halftime.

The "food trucks" in Tuscaloosa aren't the same as the food trucks in Tucson. It's a trap.

Also, if possible, you should get to Birmingham early enough on Friday to drive to Tuscaloosa and get there around 3:00. Go to the Mal Moore building, walk up the steps to the second floor lobby, and see the Heisman Trophies. The building is only open to the public during the week, not game days. You can also stand and look out the windows and watch practice.

If you've never seen the Heismans, you should do this. Have your picture made holding one...they aren't behind glass. Don't try to pick them up though!

Yeah. Don't make the trip to watch bama stomp a 5-7 auburn team

You won't regret this. Also, there's a bar on the roof of the Redmont that's a good spot for a nightcap, since you're staying there.

It's the kind of thing I would enjoy at another school, but I'm a huge fan of the game in general. A museum of the history of OSU or ND or Michigan football would be interesting to me. Plus, it doesn't take that long to go through.

The Bryant Museum is worth a visit if you’re a fan of college football history.

Have lunch at Rama Jama’s by the stadium.

Dinner at Chuck’s or 5 downtown is a good choice after the game, although the wait will be long. The Cypress Inn is good, too, and right on the river, but again, the wait will be long. But honestly the wait is going to be long anywhere in town so you might as well wait for a good meal.

The Iron Bowl had a 50/50 ticket split. Last one was in 1988.

If you want the true Bama Experience, have dinner at Baumhowers in Birmingham and get you some wings. Stop at the nearest Kangaroo Gas Station and buy you a 12 pack of Natty Lites and two packs of cigarettes (unfiltered Camel- so you can share with wife). Head to the nearest Motel 6 and knock out the 12 pack. Wake up the next morning and drive thru Jacks and head to T-town (stop and put a shaker on the Bear's Grave first). Park at a nearby church and walk around the stadium and the Quad. Watch game with the tailgaters and then head home. Tell everyone you were there and enjoy the results. RTR.

Growing up in Alabama, my brother and I went to several Iron Bowls when it was The Real Iron Bowl played in Legion Field in Birmingham. The game today is nothing compared to the atmosphere in the stadium and in Birmingham back then. The entire town was electric for the full week.
Enjoy your game. The game will be great, but you have missed the excitement the Iron Bowl used to generate.
