I haven’t gotten to watch too much of bama this year, but I’m curious. I know that Harris and N Harris are y’all two main guys. I’m not much of a “stats gazed” because stats don’t always tell the story of a game. Example, being up by 30, and trying to run the clock out running into 9 man boxes.

1 How does bama rotate their backs?

2 From the front 7 you guys have played so far, did any particular team make running the ball difficult for your oline?

Our front 7 is pretty good, but we do lack an elite pass rusher.

Including the 2 questions above,

Do you think bama leans towards a 60/40 70/30 pass to run ratio with the reputation of our dbs, or do you think we see a lot more trying to pound the rock to open up the passing game?

LSU and Bama fans, please keep this convo civil. I know there’s a lot of back and forth between the two sides, but I’m hoping this becomes a similar thread to the bama wr vs our dbs

1. Well as of late, Nyjee has started and then Damien has been rotating in. We will run on some first downs and then we will run play action on first down. We normally will take a deep shot on first or second down. The only team that has given us difficulty running the ball was Texas A&M, but Tua made up for it in the passing game. It will be around 65/35 pass, and we will run alot of Play Action with check downs to our Rbs. I see it this way.

Jacobs is actually number two

I’d guess it’s around 65/35 pass/rush in the 1st half of games. 2nd half is more like 80/20 rush/pass

Our running game has been strong every game with the exception of A&M. They held us in check until late in the game. Of course, they’ve done that to just about everyone this year. Still, I don’t think we are quite as overwhelming running the ball this year as we have been in the past.

We rotate four deep at RB. They’re all pretty good, although Jacobs and Najee Harris have been most impressive this year. You’ll see Jacobs a lot early and Harris a lot mid to late game.

I don’t expect us to change up our offensive gameplan much for y’all. Probably around 50/50 run/pass in terms of playcalling.

I feel like where we have gotten into trouble is filling gaps and making tackles on first contact. A couple of teams probably had way more yards after contact than otherwise. If we don't wrap up on first try, it's going to be a long night. I know they will block well and run hard. Stay at home, hit the gaps, and tackle. If it could only be that simple.

This game I expect D Harriss to start, and I expect more runs in between the tackle to see if LSU's run defense is a little off with White being out. I think we should also expect more passes to the te's and backs in the first half, to test White's backup in coverage. If he is solid, and if LSU stifles the running game, then it will be air Bama.

We run a decent amount of RPOs so in some cases it will just depend on what your defense does as to whether or not we run it. Tua has alot of control to make decisions

Love all answers. Pretty solid numbers.

From what I’ve gathered so far is that the LSU defense will need to take away plays like inside zone, and lead, and power in order to make bama readjust.

So the game should go like this

1st drive (bama)
1st down inside run
2nd down deep shot
3rd down some sort of screen or crossing pattern to the tight end.

If bama cannot establish a consistent running game, then you’ll get more a lot more passes, taking away the play action aspect somewhat:

Then it’ll move on to the screen/ tight end cross/ vert deepshot

Is running any outside zone stuff or stretch plays to stretch out the defense?

Alabama reminds me a lot of the old Spurrier UF gameplans. They'll throw to get the lead and run to keep it

I love how every Bama fan picks 2 different top backs. I've even seen some say they think Robinson is better than Damien (obviously stupid). D Harris has been the starter, followed by Jacobs and Najee. Jacobs has been the hot back the last couple games. But all 3 get regular carries, and the hot back gets more as the game goes on.

Jacobs is the best receiver. D Harris the best all around and blocker. Najee shows flashes of brilliance, but is probably the least consistent of the 3. Robinson really doesn't get many carries until the game is decided. Overall, its one of our strongest groups yet.

We have run a few jet sweeps with a good bit of success. Jacobs loves to lead block on those.

Bama loves to pass on first down, run on second, and third is up to Tua.

Damien Harris is our main guy but I think Jacobs is the guy y’all need to watch out for this weekend. He’s a little more versatile and with your skill in the secondary, I imagine we’ll use him to counter that.

It will be around 65/35 pass,

This is an interesting statement, since it has been almost exactly the opposite so far this season.

Agreed, that's why I picked him to be the offensive player that has a surprisingly big game.

I picked Mckinney on defense cause I see him bringing some safety blitzes on Burrow.

That's a pretty good breakdown.
