...but has to sit out a year.
Do you give Gus a pass on 2018 and 2019, and roll the dice with Justin Fields as a redshirt sophomore in 2020?
Tell me how you really feel. Would it be worth it?

So we can get Justin Fields, but we have to keep Gus???

You serious, Clarke? Hell no

Yes. Does he have to set if he pays his way?

C'mon, we've got a lot of data now.
Gus' herp-derping ways will overcome Justin Field's greatness. Cam was the only QB that had more greatness than Gus had inelegance. Nick almost overcame it, but Gus was the head coach this time around, and it was just too much.
Gus will beat good teams from time to time. But he won't win you championships. Let's move on.
(And for all you Gus-lovers, it is actually better for Gus if Gus gets canned this time around. Maybe, just maybe, he'll go rehab somewhere and learn his shortcomings. Learn to settle down. That is the only way he'll ever be a great D1 coach.)

No
Maybe, if we knew he was the next Cam, but I think he is over rated.

Better scenario:
Gus resigns and willfully gives up his absurd buyout admitting he did not live up to his end of the contract.
We hire Kiffin.
Fields transfers to Auburn and has to sit a year.
Stidham shows vast improvement under Lane’s tutelage giving us a very nice transition year from the Gus shitshow.
We win the NC in year two with another Cam Newton type performance at QB.

JF isn’t overrated. He would do wonders in Gus’s offense.

Not only no, but hell no.
In your hypothetical case, how about we just get a coach for whom Justin Fields would be eager to play?

Let’s keep in mind, in no way do I want this to happen.
I’m just posing a question.

If Cam Newton had a year of eligibility left and wanted to come back if Gus stays I woukd say hell no, Sure we might win a natty but would be on the hook for 7-6 and 8-5 seasons after that.

I would take a few more 8-5 seasons if it meant a NC in the next 3 years. But GusShortBus ain't sniffing another NC.

God forbid we might have to tolerate winning NCs and 8 win seasons.

Gus would ruin JF. Between the shitty passing game inability to develop qb and shitty oline recruiting. JF would be lucky to make it to the league as a db once Gus was through with him.
This offense destroys great players.

Bull shite. Gus’s problem is he has Stidham working in an offense better fit for above average DT QBs. Gus needs to get Fields and go back to his bread n butter.

It’s known that I don’t care much for Gus( and I’m glad,)but I can at least see that Gus has kicked you out of the stupid tree and you hit your head on every branch going down.

I have no idea why people keep floating transfers with the certainty they're better than other QBs on the roster
