What do you guys think about the "Jalen" packages?

I think it's pretty great that Jalen is still trying to contribute and from what I've read is considered a leader in the locker room despite losing his starting role.
I love the small wrinkles that have been added to the offense from game to game. Personally, I like seeing Hurts in the game in some form or fashion, more for he's been classy throughout this process rather than I feel like he's better than a currect player that might otherwise line up in that position.
I'm not sure if these packages will be used against better teams, but at very least they have to eat a little practice time to address it. After the Tua "scare" we had earlier this week, is it wise to put our Backup QB in and risk injury being to cute?

Probably more time is spent practicing these packages then opposing defenses will spend preparing for them. If this were a movie franchise, it would probably be considered “fan service”.
The time would probably better be spent developing the pocket passing of Jalen and Mac Jones.
I’m typing this on my mobile so the terseness of my response may make it sound overly negative - that is not how I mean it. CNS obviously sees value in the package.

It’s nice for a wrinkle here and there but our offense is too damn good to waste too much time on it.

they are giving other teams a sneak peak at these looks so they have something to prepare for. I think we will see Jalen and Tua in the future games a lot more than we have. Maybe not in the UT game but surely in the LSU game.
I was hoping they would have both been in the game for the opening snap vs Lville.

It gives the opposing DC's more formations and "possibilities" to have to contend with, like the swinging gate on PAT instead of the conventional PAT set. Not only do they have to take time to line up against it, prepare for the plays seen, they also have to guess as to what MIGHT come from those sets. Added time here means less time on our more conventional sets and offense. Then throw in the fact that Locksley and company have a few wrinkles in with our regular sets, equals ANOTHER headache for the DC.

I like them, but honestly I think they are just poison pills to throw into DC's planning.
We've already shown packages of Jalen taking jet sweeps, taking a jet sweep and then running a counter roll out and Jalen just running a stop route.
Those are all plays that you 100% have to prep for, especially in the red zone and especially since we have now shown the ability to run all 3 options of basically the same play (run/pass/run then pass).

I would rather see a true WR on the field. I think it will be easily defended against when we go to La and against State and Auburn. Nothing wrong with letting the guys have fun though.

So we have Tua's Knee. How long till Jalen's Package has an account.

I wish they would stop putting Tua in harms way.
Jalen can't be hurt. He's taken some vicious hits and bounced right up.
I'm okay with him icing games.Running the clock.
Jalen is much better than last season.Maybe it's Dan Enos.Maybe it's being around Tua.The Tua Effect.
I'm okay with Saban and Co. trying to get him involved. He's a pretty good Athlete.
