Georgia used a fake fg, a flea flicker, and a borrowed NFL play for a 2 point conversion

And failed all three.

Kirby coached like he came into the game expecting to lose. If he sticks with Fromm for another loss it'll start to get ugly fast.

Grant Delpit single handedly blew up two of those plays

To be honest, historically, mobile quarterbacks have really hurt us in the past decade. We play much better defense against 'conventional' offenses -- run heavy, pass when you have to. I had asked if Fields would be considered vs. LSU because we completely got them on the speed option.
I guess it's a no.

I guess they thought Fields wasn't ready. But the time is very close when Kirby needs to throw him into the fire. It might be ugly at first, but he's making choices right now that affect more than just this season. Fromm's stats this season looked good prior to Saturday, but if you watched him play he's regressed since the last half of 2017. I don't know what to expect vs UF, but something has to change.

Personally, I think Kirby kind of fumbled the QB race.
Now, before you jump on me -- I don't think Eason should have been thrown in the garbage that fast. I think for that game Saturday, a run-option with Fields would have worked completely, but since right now you guys only have two scholarship Quarterbacks, it's impossible to run that type of offense without severe consequences for an injury.
THAT is where I think he fumbled it. If it were up to me, I absolutely would have taken a three-star Dual QB just in case. Fields can't run his type of offense because if he goes down, Fromm literally has no back up. This is a serious conundrum, and personally, I think a rookie coaching error.
Maybe Fromm is night and day better than Eason, but I don't think this was the year the Dogs could afford to have only two scholarship QBs considering just how many defensive players are still adjusting to the system.

No way of knowing what they were seeing in practice before last season, but Eason rarely showed good presence during the games he started. Fromm was just the opposite, last year he made pretty good decisions and I assume that they didn't think Eason had made much progress.
This year Fromm seems indecisive for some reason, sort of Eason like. Fromm's not gonna beat you with superior talent though and if his mental development has stalled then the upside is limited.

It's not so much a problem short-term. Sure, Fromm did well enough but he wasn't going to transfer. Mullen took in Franks (one of the worst SEC QBs in a while), Kyle Trask (wasn't a starter at his high school), Emory Jones (True Freshman) -- probably one of the worst QB Stables one could ask for, but still didn't take a transfer since it likely meant Trask and Franks transferring.
The problem is the long term. Would you rather have a 9 - 3 year last year, or this year? Because right now that's what UGA could ultimately be staring at, with a QB battle in the middle of the year (everyone has abandoned Fromm aside from the sensible Georgia fans).
Imagine, instead, that it's Eason in his third year, he doesn't do well and so Fromm can come in as well as Fields. At worst, even if Fields AND Fromm get hurt, Eason has a chance to come back and win his job.
This isn't even a hindsight problem, this is a strategic, planning problem. So now you have one Quarterback everyone is blaming (fairly or unfairly) and a dual-threat Quarterback who literally can't use his legs.
That's as much of a fumble as you can have as an HC.

I think we’re in the middle of a big HC fumble, but that isn’t it. Fields can, has been, and will continue to use his legs.
If our top 2 QBs get hurt, we’re fricked anyways. It’s not like we were going to be able to sign one capable of holding down the fort as a freshman in the same class as Fields, nor do you interrupt a potential championship season last year to put Eason back in.

Kirby knew Georgia came into this game over matched... that's why he had all these gimmicky plays in the game plan

My reaction as it happened was:
"Oh no!"
After realizing LSU snuffed it out:
"YES!"
After a few seconds to marinate:
"WTF was Kirby thinking? Why are they so desperate so early in the game?"

This from a fan of the school that gave Tennessee it's first SEC victory since Moses was a child. Priceless.

To me, the fake field goal and the two-point attempt later in the game especially were solely reactions to what LSU might be doing. We tried to “fool” them or “outsmart” them, and that seemed to last the whole game. And I hate that. A good team will be just as prepared for anything, so you don’t win games against good opponents by trying to be smarter than them. You win by just beating them. So in addition to your points, I feel that Kirby and Chaney didn’t utilize our strengths to let our players just simply make plays to beat them. It’s like everything they did was in hopes that LSU “wouldn’t be ready for it.”
What was he trying to do? Be cute? Using the same fake FG overhead toss Miles used in 07 against SC and 10 against UF?

Perhaps this has something to do with the offense. First year exposed to it and QB gets a streamlined version. Second year more put in and it shows to be over complicated.

Well, I mean, we actually played a fricking schedule and just got off of a pretty difficult few weeks.
Blew the doors off of Tennessee as the away team -- you guys took four whole quarters to do so.
Beat MSST on the road.
Beat LSU.
Geogria played one SEC team with a winning record and they beat the frick out of you guys. I just have to imagine what's going to happen if you guys actually have to play a real schedule some year so Kirby can get his arse exposed some more. You guys might beat us this year, but I know we are in infinitely better hands than you are.
