I'm just throwing this out there. BO stays and we bring in Stoops as DC. Despite recent problems, we know Stoops (all of them) can coach. He can also recruit. Without KUl, we need some high upside DE and DB/Safety recruits. He is a rust belt recruiter, so we get into new areas. We're recruiting in the 50's now, I think Stoops can get us into high 30's. He's got a connection with the state of Oklahoma which seems to be an attraction for BO.
Even the most skeptical of you have to admit he's an upgrade to Walters.

I’m not sure Id really want Stoops but I think we are at the very least going to have to make a change at DC.
I’d throw 1M and a 3 year guarantee at Grich and make him say no first. Although he’s going to be a very hot commodity.

Stoops was terrible both stents as DC at OU. No way is he better than what’s here already.

Correct. If he can’t get it done with a defense full of 4 or 5 star talent, he would be worse than Walters.

If you are looking at a new DC Bryan Brown (App State), Marcus Freeman (Cincinnati), Troy Reffett (North Texas), David Reeves (UAB) seems like better options and more likely guys Mizzou can get.

Ummmm... newsflash guys, we aren't the type of program where we just go out and get who we want. BO is gonna grab someone off the scrap heap like he did with Heupal and Dooley. That's why I'm betting Stoops if he makes a move.

His secondary concepts aren't much different than what Walters is trying to coach but he does a much better job at disguising them. The problem he has had is the league he is deploying them in. Teams stressed his LBs by pulling the field side LB out of the bubble to cover the flat/screen with strength and motion. His defense has been terrible in the RZ as well.
I think convincing him to coach and recruit against his brother would be an impossible sell, but I do agree that a change must be made. During the bye, the front 7 went from not being able to pressure the QB to having 10 hurries in one game. Walters wasn't able to change anything. If Odom sticks to his guns on his DC he is going to make Sterk's decision pretty easy.

He stuck with Cross way too long.
