What the frick guys? No Burt Reynolds love?
Even though he wasn’t born in GA, for anyone one that is a native Georgian Burt was a a true icon. I remember begging mom to buy Matchbox Firebirds after Smoky and the Bandit ..which was a milestone movie and created the genre that led to the Dukes of Hazard. That movie was a game changer.
He single handedly scared all yankees from camping in the mountains after Deliverance because they thought that shite was true.
The Longest Yard...Hooper...Gator...Sharkeys Machine. All classics.
He was somebody who supported the State and damn well carried the mantle of being a superstar before there were superstars.
Godspeed Bandit.

He had a house up in Forsyth County near my grandparents. We would drive by and my g-ma would point out where Burt Reynolds lived. Cannonball Run movies were classics that my brother and I would watch over and over and you cant forget about Stroker Ace.

The cars in the movie were actually 76 models with the 77 front end which wasn’t released yet. Although the 78 looked the same, and is the year model that the sales jumped up on after the movie.
My dad had a 77 and then an 81. I don’t care for the headlights on the 81 model.
I always thought the car was so badass when I was a kid but to find out they only put out 220 horsepower is disappointing. My stock silverado puts out 355.

My mom and Buddy were FSU classmates. And that's when FSU wasn't very big at all.
He'll always be an icon to me.

There's a rumor going round in Tallahassee right now that he was watching FSU play Monday night and began having chest pains while getting worked up over the game...No kidding.

I remember watching Cannon Ball Run on VHS. And pausing and rewinding over and over the part where the chick in the lamborgenie unzips her jumpsuit to get out of a speeding ticket. We didn't have gifs back then. You had to manually hit a bunch of buttons to move tape spools back and forth if you wanted to look at boobs repeatedly. Kids today don't realize how easy they have it.

Of all the "back in my day" posts, this is possibly one of the best.

Douche bag Moderator used his only authority in life to take my Burt post down and bury in the OT forum even with a photo of Burt and Gomer shaking Herschel's hand. It has to be an alter to do something so crappy to a Southern Icon who I have seen wear a Georgia Hat and Tee shirt.

He filmed a low budget movie here in Griffin like 10-12 years ago and my friend lived next to the old house they were filming at, he got to meet Burt in his own back yard.
