This video says a bear would win. I think they should have used 10 stars per category though, and there is no actual blow for blow action.

The gorilla got a lot of points for intelligence but then the bear got a bunch of points for kill skill.

Y'all forgettin that gorilla strength tho. 8-12 times the strength of a man.

If an Ivan Drago punch generates 1850lbs of pressure per square inch, and a full grown Gorilla weighs 3 times as much as Drago,

That's like a billion pounds

By my calculations, a gorilla could punch a bear through a wall made of tigers.

Dude grizzlies weigh almost twice as much as gorillas. A Grizzly could just swipe once and eviscerate a gorilla.

I've heard stories of black bears killing hunting dogs with one swipe. My cousin hit a black bear with her car when I was a kid, she totaled the car and the bear just stumbled off, the body was never found so it lived. Those were black bears, the lightweight bitches of the bear world, grizzlies are scary af. A gorilla would get wrecked.

What of subspecies of North American brown bear?

Are these bears and gorillas captive or in the wild?

Its closer to 4 times as strong as a fit adult male. Up to 8 men if we are talking about your typical internet posters.

The average male gorilla will come in at about 475 pounds, the average male Grizzly bear at 600. A supremely fit Silverback gorilla at about 600 pounds, a truly dominant grizzly at 800 pounds. The gorilla, is incredibly strong, unfortunately for our dear cousin the ape a grizzly is even more powerful. That big hump behind a grizzly's neck is all muscle.

Finally the gorilla is a shy and comparatively gentle vegetarian species. They are far more likely to engage in an aggressive display to drive away a rival or predator. They do have impressively large canine teeth so when two dominant Silverbacks do throw down its on uncommon for both to suffer severe injuries.

Grizzlies, unfortunately, have even larger teeth and match them with 4 inch long claws. Unlike gorillas they are very much apex predators, or, in this case, apex omnivores. Google grizzly bear kills moose for a demonstration video of how a grizzly can quite easily take down a large prey species.

You damn sure shouldn't try to square up with a Silverback gorilla on his home turf but odds are he'll just beat the living crap out of you if you curl up into a ball. A grizzly will more then likely kill and eat you if you piss him off.

Da bears. Too many sharp weapons, too much weight advantage.

I've heard stories of grizzlies killing moose with one swipe. People really don't get the size, speed and power of Grizzlies. I get that gorillas are tough, but how is it going to kill the grizzly? There's so much fat/muscle that punching would be absolutely worthless and you're not going to choke it out.

Grizzly would easily kill a gorilla.

The grizzly would have to get behind him and pull his jaws apart.

"On the other hand, an occasional huge male grizzly has been recorded which greatly exceeds ordinary size, with weights reported up to 680 kg (1,500 lb)"

"The heaviest gorilla recorded was a 1.83 m (6 ft 0 in) silverback shot in Ambam, Cameroon, which weighed 267 kg (589 lb)."

The first reported event took place in Alaska in 1895 by a Russian miner who was hiking through the wilderness. According to his account, he witnessed a moose drinking from a stream when a Grizzly bear approached from the other side. Moose are very territorial, and they are especially known to attack anything they perceive to be a threat to their water source. The moose charged full speed across the stream, and just as it neared the bear, the bear stood up and with a quick motion swiped the moose in the side of the face. The moose's head became decapitated and flew a distance of fifteen to twenty feet....and quick as a spark on a fire the grizzly bear stood up and swatted the moose in the face. Why it was if you or I would swat a fly, but the impact seemed to me as loud as a gunshot. And then I was absolutely flabbergasted and discombobulated to see, a great up-splash of blood, and the moose's head detached from the body and landed not three feet from where I was hidden, its eyes staring right at me. The bear sat down immediately and began drinking from the stream as if nothing had happened, as if it were a regular occurrence to go decapitating the head of a moose. Never in my life will I forget the power of the grizzly bear...

I cannot imagine seeing anything more awesome than that.
