If construction of the bill that Hill alludes to is anything like the format of the FairTax National Retail Sales Tax bill, then it requires the abolition of the state income tax in order to be replaced by the state sales tax (which obviously we have, but would by definition, increase). I'd gladly pay 3-4% more at the register in favor of everyone, legal or not, paying into the state coffers.

Seems that way. Another election where I can't seem to get behind any of the candidates. Yay.

Hope you’re right about his chances but there is a sizeable contingency in my neck of the woods supporting him. It’s mostly being spear-headed by a local elected official who is banking on landing a cush appointment under Cagle.

Or eliminate the income tax and replace it with nothing.
-Gas tax and federal money pays for roads.
-Property taxes and local sales taxes (and more federal money) pays for schools (and some local road improvements)
-Fines pay for state patrol
-Fines and restitution to the state pays for state prisons and state courts
What else we got?

Exactly.
We should be getting rid of taxes. Not creating ones.

Follow the special interest money....
It's all been bet on Cagle with some thrown on Hill in case there's a runoff. And then they cant lose.

Don't get behind a candidate. Swear eternal hatred and contempt against the establishment ones that pose you the most harm and danger instead!
Kemp and Williams are the best wrecking balls available to facilitate this. LET'S GO!!!!!!!!!!!

Just voted Kemp & told the Misses to do the same.

I don't think I fear the special interest money like I used to.
Purdue and Deal had their backing and things had been going OK.
I don't fear cagle because I don't fear the status quo.
Georgia is pro-business. How hard do you want to fight against that tide?

The state sales tax is already 4%.
LINK
Why isn't 4% of every dollar that changes hands through retail sales enough money to run the business of the state?
That's in addition to 26 cents per gallon on every gallon of gas sold in the state (29 cents for diesel).
That's in addition to the fees they charge for every single vehicle registered in the state.
That's in addition to their cut of the tolls on I-85 Peach Pass (soon to be I-75 too).
That's in addition to fees for hunting licenses, fishing licenses, and professional licenses.
That's in addition to fees I don't even know about. Boat registration fees, trailer tags, I'm sure there's a hundred more.
What about all of those convenience fees they charge when you pay something online, like renew a fishing license? That's got to be millions of dollars.

Yes. As an open and proud fan of crony capitalism and corporate welfare and handouts... and the establishment status quo......you are the fricking poster boy perfect Cagle supporter!!
Kemp and Williams should set your arse outside a polling place to inadvertently get them more votes. Ha ha holy shite

I ended up voting Kemp. I like Williams better, but he has no shot for the runoff.
Also, it smelled like a shoe that was worn all summer without socks in there. fricking nasty, man.

I never voted for Deal. He is a crook.
But that doesn't mean that Georgia isn't faring better than the vast majority of the country right now.
Are you slumming it right now?
How bad is your pocket book?

What’s the point of us trying to communicate on politics? We don’t speak the same language. All I’m hearing are grunting noises.

So was Kasim Reed, but they had such a great working relationship that it resulted in a lot of economic growth for the state. They handed out massive tax breaks like candy to lure companies here, we'll see what the long term ramifications of that end up being.

My primary focus in any election is jobs.
It is not the governments job to create jobs. But the government sure does like to create regulation and taxes which stifle jobs.
And if handouts are given to lure jobs from other cities, I can live with that.
The alternative to jobs is unemployment, declining real estate values, and a declining tax base.
I havent decided who I am voting for. But I don't fear the last 15 years in how this state government has been run (knowing that a crook was at the helm for 8 of it and a special interest governor was there before him).

You do seem like the type who likes to act tough but is soft as tissue when confronted with facts and opposition.
Grunt

I haven’t seen any facts or opposition presented.
Just the idea that the status quo is working just fine so why challenge it. That’s it. Unless I’m mistranslating the grunts.
