and lost, I would say again, but the last time was 1982 right?

We have been close on several other occasions. 2012 was one, but 2-3 times other than that. However, that is the point, I think. We are improving. That's what we are excited about. We feel like we are making strides in the right direction for the first time in a long time.

I don't think anybody is arguing we are where we need to be, or that we are on the same level as Alabama. Just that we are heading in the right direction. And for a program that has underachieved for so many years, that is exciting stuff.

Alabama is a great job with the right coach.
I don’t think it’s a great job logistically.
Alabama doesn’t have great HS football, it’s a small state, plus I think the fan base is too narcissistic for average or good coaches.

I understand what you are saying, but I disagree. They are close enough to recruit Georgia, Louisiana, and Florida. They have great facilities bought with money made from all their winning. Administration and booster support. Tradition. I would say logistically they are in great shape. (Unless by logistically you are taking about location only)

Ever drive through Alabama? it is not a small state...at least size wise!

Which is a good thing, to me. I mean they demand the best. It's one reason they have had Bear Bryant and Nick Saban,

I'm surprised anybody is arguing that Alabama is not the best situation in the SEC. I can assure you there are 100 other coaches that would give their eye teeth to land there right now. Situations change, though...but for now it is easily the best situation.

Keep on thinking that the State of Georgia has something special on the field, because the results are not there.

What's does this even mean? The results are certainly there when it comes to players drafted and signed by by
P5 schools amd players signed by schools that have won
NC's.

You've yet to answer my question about Nebraska HS talent. How bout HS talent in Tennessee or in South Carolina?Do those states produce more talent since they have more recent NC's? Once again,I'm using your twisted logic.

You are confusing more talent with better talent. Your whole argument is that Georgia has this fountain of highly talent recruits. They do have recruits, but given the fact that UGA has not done so well on the field, I would say that that talent you are bragging about is not as good as you think.

You keep wanting to talk about Georgia's talent
Here is the list of NFL players by state

Florida- 193
California- 187
Texas- 160

Big drop off

Georgia- 97
Ohio - 80
Penn- 66
Louisiana- 63
Alabama-60

So while Georgia leads the second half group, the difference in Alabama's number and Georgia's number is 37 players which is a wash. Actually Louisiana number is lower due to many players leaving the delta region after Katrina.

Of those top eight states, Georgia has the fewest NC overall..... You want to talk about Nebraska, Tennessee, and South Carolina? They evidently have better quality players and do more with less......

5 different coaches have had HoF level success at Alabama. Not just Nick Saban.

Out of curiosity...are you saying that Georgia has the fourth highest number of players in the NFL? Most people think that is exactly where we are as far as talent in the state. Maybe I am misunderstanding the argument?

You don't really believe that, do you? You can only sign 25 players a year, but 37 is a wash?

quote:

Well, probably. Look at all of the major schools in those other states. GT hasn't even had a sniff at a title since 1990.

I think your reasoning is flawed, but hey....if you are happy with it and consider Georgia as not having very good High School talent, then so be it. But I can't imagine every other expert on high School or college football agreeing with you.

If your point is UGA has underachieved, then I don't think anybody would argue that point, either.

Alabama makes bad coaches look competent. Mike Dubose won an SEC title here. Deer in the headlights Shula even had a 10 win season in a program destroyed by sanctions and hes on a coaching tier lower than coach O.

5 different coaches has won national titles. 3 of them had multiple title winning teams(we will leave out Frank Thomas's dubious 1941 team).

UGA is the fourth right now, but that number will change due to several factors.

1) Alabama was on probation during that time, and was not able to sign even the top level players in the State of Alabama.

2) New Orleans suffered a major hurricane, and a great deal of talent left the state. It is slowly rebuilding.

the difference in Alabama's number and Georgia's number is 37 players which is a wash.

You don't really believe that, do you? You can only sign 25 players a year, but 37 is a wash?

The difference between Texas and Georgia is 63
The difference between Georgia and Alabama is 37

Look at the below stat,

Here is the complete top 25, as calculated by cleveland.com.

Rank School Players
1 LSU 41
2 Florida State 37
(tie) Ohio State 37
4 Miami (Fla.) 36
(tie) USC 36
6 Alabama 35
(tie) Florida 35
8 Georgia 31
9 Clemson 29
9 Penn State 29
11 Auburn 27
12 Oklahoma 26
(tie) Texas 26
14 Notre Dame 25
(tie) Stanford 25
16 California 24
(tie) Wisconsin 24
18 Oregon 23
(tie) Tennessee 23
20 Michigan State 22
(tie) Nebraska 22
(tie) Texas A&M 22
(tie) UCLA 22
24 South Carolina 21
25 Iowa 20

so if the State of Georgia is that talented, why is UGA behind, LSU, Alabama and Florida?

If you look at this link

LINK

you will see that your "talented state" is barely above Alabama (score of 39 to 32)

But hey, what do they know right?

I am not saying the State of Georgia's recruits are not talented, just that they are not as talented overall as you think.....

What? This not even worth arguing. It's a completely asinine and false.statement.You've yet to make any type of point that backs up what your attempting to say.

quote:

would say that that talent you are bragging about is not as good as you think.

God you're thick.I'm telling you nor does IT MATTER WHAT I THINK.NFL GM's and CFB HC's get paid millions of dollars a year amd are signing and drafting these kids.

quote:

Florida- 193
California- 187
Texas- 160

Big drop off

BTW here's an updated list from last year you dolt.Updated for 2017

quote:

States with most NFL players
Florida - 212
California - 191
Texas - 179
Georgia - 120
Ohio - 82
Alabama - 62
Louisiana - 59
Pennsylvania - 59
New Jersey - 52
South Carolina - 52
North Carolina - 49
Illinois - 41
Michigan - 40
Virginia - 38

Not so much of a drop off is there?

So what?Florida has double our population,Texas almost triple and California had FOUR times the population.

Here's another based on percentages Florida and Georgia #1 and # 2

quote:

They evidently have better quality players

No they don't and there's not 1 piece of evidence that backs you up.Do you actually think any of those schools could compete with just native born players.Do you realize schools actually sign kids for other states?Alabama signed a grand total of TWO kids from Alabama last years recruiting class.

You wanna know which state produces the most SEC players? This was from 3 years ago but I don't imagine it's changed much amd probably gone up.

This has NOTHING to do with UGA.It's HS talent producesd by the state. Why are so many confused with
this.

Once again we're talking about in state talent and here's updated NFL numbers.

quote:

States with most NFL players
Florida - 212
California - 191
Texas - 179
Georgia - 120
Ohio - 82
Alabama - 62
Louisiana - 59
Pennsylvania - 59
New Jersey - 52
South Carolina - 52
North Carolina - 49
Illinois - 41

Georgia has double the amount of AlaBama or Louisiana and the both states aren't gonna take their place probably ever if population trends stay the same.

quote:

Rank School Players

Once again, this ISN'T ABOUT CFB INDIVIDUAL SCHOOLS.It's about raw data of STATES AND HOW MUCH TALENT IS SIGNED AND DRAFTED FROM THESE STATES.

I was not talking about individual schools, but added them just to show how wrong you are.

and 97 is not double 63 or 60.......

IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS ARGUMENT!What part of this do you not get?

Did UGA underachieve under CMR?YES and I've never stated otherwise.A PERFECT example is the 2017 NFL draft.Once again, there were 27 native players drafted from the sfate and NOT ONE went to UGA...does this clarify the arguemnt? If it doesn't you're completely hopeless or maybe your just 12 years old.

Your link does not match up with my link, so which are we to believe, an internet site of questionable stats, or a newspaper with actual credentials?

Congrats to the State of Georgia on the one time achievement in the NFL draft.

What? One good year?So all 120 of em were drafted last year?Makes about as much sense as your comment

Not once did you refute my stats about D1 SIGNEES,
SEC rosters,Blue Chips or NFL rosters numbers and you add it up "one good year".

Here's a link to 2019 recruiting class
Why don't you do a little comparative research between
Georgia,Alabama and Louisiana and get back to me?
