This NYT Article has data showing the income distribution of parents for each school. I've selected Vandy for an example, but if you scroll down a bit where the green/red boxes are, you can select "NA Colleges", which will compare Vandy to the rest of the SEC on various metrics.

Median Family Income:
1. Vandy - $204K
2. Auburn - $143K
3. TAMU - $131K
4. Alabama - $130K
5. UGA - $130K
6. Ole Miss - $117K
7. Arky - $116K
8. UK - $112K
9. Mizzou - $110K
10. LSU - $109K
11. UF - $107K
12. UT - $97K
13. USCe - $96K
14. MSU - $90K

Share of students who moved up two or more income quintiles
1. Mississippi State (20%)
2. Florida (19%)
3. South Carolina (18%)
3. Arkansas (18%)
5. LSU (17%)
6. Alabama (15%)
6. Missouri (15%)
8. Ole Miss (14%)
8. Tennessee (14%)
10. Texas A&M (13%)
11. Kentucky (12%)
12. Auburn (11%)
12. Vanderbilt (11%)
14. Georgia (10%)

For all the shite State gets this is impressive and should be applauded. Kind of the whole point of college, really. Pay money to give you the opportunity to move up an income level and set your future family up to do more of the same.

Surprised UF isn’t last. I think we are the least expensive school to attend for in-state students. “What a bahgan, such a deal!”

One of my clients is a towing company (the owner is a Bama fan fwiw). He easily makes 6 figures a year, and that's just the income he's reporting

Never would have thought it could be so profitable

I'm not. They have a damn good engineering program, as much as it loathes me to say it.

They do, but the funny thing is they do not include the University of Alabama's medical and dental schools income in that group.

Nor Arkansas'. It's a separate university within the same system.

That is not much for those families living in NY, TX and CA.

There's no way this is right. People keep telling me Ole Miss is "full of rich kids".

So more well off kids goto Vandy, Auburn, & A&M. Is that surprising? For some reason i thought UF would be higher.

I am surprised A&M isn’t lower too. We have a lot of low income minority families from Houston that send kids to A&M.

I was wondering about cost of living myself. A lot Auburn grads in Houston and the Silicon Valley also, but the Bama numbers must be inflated by the NY state lawyers.
