I know I’m johnny come lately and about to post the most obvious observation in the world, but damn the Braves for getting blanked by the lowly marlins two games in a row, the Phillies lost twice over those two days tand the Braves really could’ve used the breathing room.

Tomorrow I hope nobody picks up a bat or ball and everybody gets hammered. They just went through the fricking gauntlet. Rest up and let’s get ready for the Division Push.

22 games in 20 days. I'd be getting hammered tonight and sleeping all day tomorrow

Its going to be 16 straight after tomorrow's off day. I would have honestly considered bringing up one of Touki/Gohara/Wilson to pitch Tuesday and give the starters another days rest.

well, yeah, but at the same time we just removed 10 games from the schedule without giving up any ground. The Braves and Nats both went 5-5 while the Phils went 4-6.

I'll take that.

I don’t really know how to feel being a Nats fan in late August.

3.5 games ahead of the phillies, tied for our largest lead of the season.

Last time we had this large of a lead was when Acuna hit that extra inning home run vs the Yankees

I think best case for us is for those two teams to split all their remaining games. I want Philadelphia to lose, but it it means Washington going on a tear, I don't want any part of it. They sold off a few pieces, but they are still as talented as anyone in the division if they put it together.

Yep. I'm not convinced that they are done yet

The Braves signed Flowers to a 1 year 4 million 2019 season deal, hopefully just for defensive purposes and drawing walks so they have a better chance at getting what they pay for than the whole bat swinging part of the game. Oh and speaking of Kurt... nothing but crickets from the Braves about next season.

It wouldn't surprise me if they talked to both guys about signing as the backup and Flowers was either the first to sign or accepted the better deal. I think they have plans for the primary catcher that didn't involve either guy and were content with either of them being signed as the backup.

My guess for a while now is we're gonna keep one of them as a secondary catcher and go for Realmuto in the offseason

Julio gave up an early run, hope it doesn't keep coming and the Braves can bounce back. 1-0 in the 2nd.

Tonight's AAA pitcher for the Braves:

Touki Tuesday ?? went according to plan: 6.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R (0 ER), 2 BB, 7 SO on 78 pitches (52 strikes).

He's got a streak of 18.2 IP without an earned run.
