I'm so glad Newk got out of that inning with the shutout intact. He already had one guy on base when he plunked the bigmouth rookie and then the guy after that got on base too. But they left the bases loaded full of fishes.

Jackson came on to pitch relief for Newcomb in the 7th. I thought tonight was Newk's best game for the Braves since he came up last year.

The next pitcher that beans somebody tonight in this game intentionally is most likely suspended, so why don't the Braves just put Sam Freeman in if they need somebody to hit a guy? Imo it would only help the bullpen to have him suspended, he could do a kickstarter or something to raise the penalty fine.

N'mind they pitched it legit to Acuna and got him out, probably his last at bat. SF probably couldn't hit the guy he was aiming for anyway and would just throw strikes for a change or something.

Braves win 5-0 it was Newk's win and Biddle closed them out in the 9th.

If Newk is going to be a dominate ace then he's going to have to be able to protect his team like that. I thought he did a good job retaliating and then shutting them down.
Bottom line, we're in a pennant race, more crap like that is coming, 35 games to go for a 2018 division pennant flag flying above Suntrust park.

FYI, the Braves won game number 72 tonight which equals the total number of wins for all of last SEASON. My god what a fun season it's been.

Yeah I don't know about MLB rules on player weekend but if that didn't work they could put the Swanson on the 16 and vice versa.
