I wonder...do any of you guys worry that Aranda just used you to lock up a huge payday, and now he is going to kick back, put his feet up, and take his money?
I don't think a guy with head coaching aspirations is going to coast like Chavis (a guy with zero HC aspirations) did at A&M. Sorry.

It does have a Reagan-era strategic defense initiative feel to it. aTm has the deeper resources, and they are forcing a spending war that their rival may not be able to afford but remain to prideful to avoid.

Good point! I hadn’t thought of that!
And if it’s stupid for me to suggest that Aranda might quit working hard...

I don't look at it like that, I look at it the correct way, and that is you fools forced LSU to begrudgingly up Aranda's salary because as I said, y'all threw bank at the man to get him. If I'm Dave Aranda, I'm playing sweepstakes poker all the way too, if LSU wants to keep me then they'll have to match aTm's ridiculous offer.

If he really wanted to be at LSU, LSU wouldn't have had to pay $10 million. They would have simply matched A&M's 500k raise.
Actually sounds like LSU just shut it down and didn't let it drag out. All this started at lunch time and was done by dinner time

Notice they are quiet on that front.
They have to spend the L in some way.

The total amount of money between O and Aranda probably isnt much different than other top schools combined payout to the HC and OC. It’s just allocated differently.
They still make less combined than several head coaches do alone in this conference

But Aggies said that money wasn’t the issue with Aranda. That he was bolting no matter what?

He hates O, his kids go to a Baton Rouge public school and his wife can’t stand female cheerleaders.
See ya, Dave.

We're not paying $10+ mil guaranteed for Aranda.

But y’all are Aggies, money isn’t a problem, LSU is poor and Aggie is rich?

We already had the highest paid DC in cfb . We just gave him a raise . He took millions less to avoid Tiny Lil Bro.

1. Suppose A&M did offer that. If it’s “ridiculous” then why’d y’all match it?
2. But A&M didn’t offer that. A&M offered 6 for three years.

Are we sure about this? The Aggie insider(s) pretty much failed this story.

Oddly, it wasn’t the A&M insiders who started the 3M rumors. That started on the LSU side. You might find a random A&M poster saying it, but I don’t think you’ll find that figure quoted from an A&M insider.
Edit: in hindsight, it might have been LSU admin started those rumors in an attempt to warm people up to offering him such a massive contract.

So A&M's plan was to make LSU increase the market value for top shelf coordinators as they search for a new DC. I'm sure that will work out great for them. But congrats on making LSU pay more for a DC everyone knows is good
(In other words, that's bullshite )
