You know it or something is coming. The last time we had 2 SEC teams for the National Championship we ended up with a playoff. I can't wait to see what comes of it this time.

it really only makes sense to expand to at least include all conference champions
then there is no bitching
win your conference and you are in
if they want to add an at large pick then so be it

Until a 7-5 conference champion gets in over a 12-1 non champion

there will always be bitching from the first team out, no matter what we do

Auburn likes to bitch regardless.
They've become pretty good at it.

Problem is that not all P5 conferences are created equal. Alabama, UGA and Auburn would have gone undefeated in the PAC12, for example. As "weak" as people claim the SEC is this year, more than a couple of them would have destroyed some of the other conferences.

I think we will see an eight team format before much longer.

at beginning of committee existence they brought the media in to do a mock of 2011 season and that mock put bama at number 4 in 2011. so the media was fully aware this was going to happen and I don't remember them saying anything bad about it during that introductory reveal of the playoff committee when it started.

A logical expansion would be to 8 teams. All 5 conference champs automatically qualify. That leaves 3 at large bids for the best of the rest.

Your parents don't love you and regret your being born.

then get rid of the conference championship games, or don't take them into account altogether

It’s the best thing SEC haters could do (from their angle) to neuter the SEC, and drumbeats to head in that direction wouldn’t surprise me. You expand to 8 and you run even a greater risk of SEC vs SEC in the N.C. game.

They could just stick to the criteria.
Let's start there and see where the current system goes.

The conference championship game is a big win against a good opponent on a neutral field.
It matters in the final standings (only bitches can't see that).
The big xii gets left out of the playoff when they don't have a CCG. Add the CCG and they get it.
To think it is ignored is a very Auburn thing to do.

I think it's a mistake to rely so heavily on the conferences ...
