Not going to go into too much detail here, but I know for a fact that Bert has talked to a few of our recruits since he was let go.
These are guys that were interested because of him and our new staff still want. A few of them have reached out to him and he is still recruiting for us even though he is no longer here. He is telling them about the positives of our program and why we would fit better than other sec schools.
There are plenty of things to bitch about when it comes to his time here, but I really do like most things about him other than his win loss record. After hearing this I wish nothing but the best for him.

The horse's mouth. This isn't 2nd and 3rd hand stuff. I'm not going to say how I know this, but I felt like it at least a few fans should know.

he has handled everything with pure class thus far, however he did block the release of the buyout info as per his attorney to the FOI requests...
and it hasn't been signed as of yet.

Bert is a good fellow. Hope he gets his health in order and makes a comeback.

He had a plan. I liked it.
He underestimated how good his Oline was going to have to be, along with not getting enough bodies. In short, his oline recruiting (or lack thereof) did him in here.
I don't care about his buyout, I have no part in that.
I wish him well, and hope he takes the knowledge that he gained here and is successful somewhere else.

The three things that did him in were the O-Line problems, his hyper cautious defensive strategy that backfired on him, and his poor S&C program. What worked for him in Wisconsin will not work in the SEC I'm sorry to say.
I wish him the best and think he should look into becoming a football analyst on TV.

Was this before or after he burned all those bridges with high school coaches?
What about playing favorites with players?
What else would he do at this point? It would just make him look like a sore loser after getting fired if he said anything other than positive things about Arkansas.
Ya'll are giving the dude way too much credit.
He's the same guy that said he left us in a better place than when he started.
Our recruiting class is completely fricked because of him.

True, but some coaches just don't get this. Remember Paul Haynes and Paul Petrino talking shite after they left in 2012?

He also is a terrible in-game coach. No adjustments, no time management that makes any iota of sense. "What the frick are we doing" kind of decisions regularly.
That kind of coach is going to have trouble winning the big games even if he does manage to get there on talent alone.
