Frank has been pissed about the lack of fans this year and attendance is down compared to last year's OOC games. How do we fix this? We obviously aren't very good but we are 7-2. Its frustrating seeing Colonial Life so empty.

Don't play such a garbage ooc schedule? We've had 3 home games. Thats it. Those were against Western Michigan, Umass, and wyoming. It was also on a Wednesday night. Attendance will pick up when conference play starts.

This. Outside of Clemson, most of our best OOC matchups get put in NYC or some other place. Not to mention, even with the run last year we lost most of our offensive production from that team and I don’t know how much we expect from this year.

Plus, I personally think the CLA is too big. Yes we can sell it out sometimes, but we all know it was built that size to host other events. The 12,000k Coliseum was perfect (and more hostile). I mean imagine what 8-10k attendance looks like in the coliseum opposed to the CLA.

Frank can hopefully get woke that it ain't just happening in Columbia.

not the best pic of Dean's SAC, but they're were easily 8K empty seats vs WCU last night in CH for the 'defending chumps'.

that's the student section in the awful orange bleachers up at All-In U on Monday

if you really want a laugh - check out the photos of empty seats everywhere in the arena while honoring the team for the big win in Charlotte over Miami at a timeout tater hoops facebook game photos - you could throw a cat at damn near any section and not come close to hitting anyone.

Kentucky and Kansas are the only P5 conference schools who hit capacity every home game no matter the opponent. Villanova and Wichita St likely do as well for non-P5. outside of marquee matchups in Nov/Dec - college basketball will continue to fight for regular season interest against its own Frankenstein of March Madness.

as for USC, we all know the CLA is too big and as a multi-purpose/shared arena will never come close to the home court we had at The Frank, now 17 seasons removed. not sure if USC can really do anything at this point in December. Coastal on a Saturday at noon - gonna be bad. the Limestone game on Weds Dec 27 at 3pm...worse. maybe Ray can put up a Christmas tree by the fountain outside CLA and hand out tickets to the Outback Bowl to get people to the arena...??

I'm not sure what Frank is expecting.

Attendance will pick up once SEC play starts.

Football season is just now ending and we play nobody interesting OOC. Even big time schools have empty seats during OOC play.

The comment he made last week about the fans not being there bc "there must be a 7th round draft pick in town being evaluated" or something close to that kinda pissed me off, honestly. Pissing off football fans is not the way to increase attendance at basketball games.

I have season tickets, and the UMass game is the only one I have gone to so far. Last night was cold, rainy, and honestly not that interesting of a matchup. The SEC slate is decent at home, so like everyone said, it will improve.

We also play Texas Tech at home in late January on a Saturday, so that should draw a decent crowd.

The 3 home games we've had thus far haven't been against opponents that are national programs, or programs that our fanbase readily recognize. Two of them were on Wednesday nights too.

I'm hoping the sample size thus far are not indicative of what we'll ultimately have this season for our home schedule. This Sat. we'll host Coastal which again isn't a more major MBB program, but at least it's an in-state program that will draw more of a larger crowd....

But as CFM stated in his call-in show tonight, he's not asking fans who have not been buying tickets to buy and come, he's asking for the ones that have committed to buy season tix, to actually come for those games that they've brought tickets for....

It's also Exams and Christmas time for the students. They've got other priorities than sports right now.

Lets be real....

This isn't a basketball school.

This is how it's been for a while.

Majority of the fanbase doesn't care till about February
And even those probably won't till March

the irony is that I'm almost 100% positive that we had the highest combined attendance of any school in the nation last year. Granted, the womens team gets vastly more people to show up than the # 2 team but still. Once conference play starts, everyone will come back.

Yes because women averaged 12 k a game.

Thats absurd in my opinion that people really get into that sport.

Arkansas and, from what I've seen, Mizzou have had a lot of empty seats as well and we love basketball. Partly its not very good competition at home, and largely its that we've had many home games this year. We've played some very good teams... but all of them were on the road or at a tournament.

We've got a nationally ranked Minnesota team rolling in this weekend but with finals coming up I'm not sure we are going to have a big crowd for that either.
