How can the NCAA really not do anything to State but destroy Ole Miss

LINK

quote:

According to sources, Lewis told the Committee on Infractions he received a cash payment of $10,000 “from Mississippi State” on the eve of National Signing Day 2016 to sign with the Bulldogs. When pressed by members of the COI to elaborate, sources say that Lewis stated that he received money to attend MSU from Calvin Green, a defensive backs coach for Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, Miss. Green is the father of Farrod Green, Lewis’ friend and Mississippi State teammate, according to sources and documentation.

Because the NCAA does what they want. UTk also paid Albert Means but nothing happened to them. I’m in no way saying Bama didn’t get what they deserved.

You linked a Godfrey article?

Go read the actual, factual NOA and NOA II. The NCAA investigated SA#39 and found MSU completely clean.

google 'corroboration'

Also, I BELIEVE (But, could be incorrect) that an established, pre-existing relationship is excluded from the gift prohibition.

I recall that LeBron gave some buddy of his an excessive amount of gifts 9trips, vehicles, etc) that were not a problem for that guy's eligibility because they were buddies outside of the connection to a school, etc.

If the money was given (I have no idea if they corroborated this) AND it was from the parent of a friend....may not be prohibited. Obviously, the provenance of the money would be interesting to the NCAA committee.

Might this trigger a separate "look see"? Sure, I suppose.

You are reading an article from an Ole Miss fan boy. How many times did he say multiple sources in the article. He is a butthurt lil bitch that has promised to unleash fury when the NCAA did drop the hammer. Believe about .9% of what’s in that article and you would have to be incredibly naive. Also of note the “bombshell” he has been rallying his ole miss troops around is a payment from Farrod Greene’s dad that is actually legal. OM kidnapped black kids and adopted them so they would go to OM for Christ’s sake

providing Lewis with “normal and reasonable living expenses.” Bylaw 12.1.1.1.6 allows someone in Green’s position, “family of a teammate,” to give to a player like Lewis even if the relationship developed as a result of athletics as long as that person is not an agent or representing a school recruiting Lewis..

This seems like a pretty big loophole for all teams to use.

Sweet hit piece by OM's bell cow reporter. Too bad his credibility is shite and nobody takes him serious.

Dude has been holding this for when the COI decision dropped and it was the worst kept secret.

Sure as shite .. the 'one' constant is Steven Godfrey stepping in to help the loansharts and his ..
quote:

According to sources,

Wonder if its the 'same' sources that told him after NOA#1 that .."It was all on Nutt, WBB and track."

That one cost OM $2.5M to Nutt and Mars and $M more in PR .. "according to sources."

You missed the part of the article about Calvin Green's payment to Leo might not be against NCAA bylaws.

And hasn't the NCAA already cleared State?

quote:

On August 16, attorneys representing Ole Miss wrote a letter addressed to COI chairman Greg Christopher, AD for Xavier University, which requested access to a separate NCAA investigation into Mississippi State. The letter, which was obtained by SB Nation, alleges that NCAA enforcement confirmed to Ole Miss that they had “quickly opened and subsequently closed” the investigation because Lewis’s statements about receiving money from Mississippi State were deemed to be “ultimately... not sufficiently credible to support an allegation.”

The claim is directly at odds with enforcement seemingly doubling down on their belief that Lewis’ statements about receiving benefits from Ole Miss were credible. As recently as the enforcement staff’s July 21 response to the COI, the NCAA has stood by Lewis as credible. “Lewis consistently provided credible and reliable information during the investigation,” enforcement wrote on July 21.

From the article...

quote:

like, okay. Dan Mullen was basically going to try and make it seem like [they] did nothing, but they were going to try and - like whatever, they was going to try and bounce it off to other people or other things, like other schools or whatever. So like that’s kind of the sense that I got from it. You know, just like he was - he was saying like - the way that he was saying like everything, it was basically like how - whatever - he was - like Coach Mullen was going to say whatever he needed to say to get them off of Leo. So it was just like whatever he - whatever - he basically asked Leo, like whatever I need to say to protect you, then let’s let that be known now, so when that time comes, you know.

Seems like we are in tons of trouble...
