Texas destroyed the SWC and now the B12. Don't invite those arrogant jokers to the SEC are they will try destroy that, too.

earing some chatter Texas is still trying to throw its weight around, raising objections to potential bowl matchup w/#Mizzou over Tigers leaving Big 12 five years ago. Had previously been reported UT didn’t want to play A&M in bowl. Eliminating 22% of SEC bowl eligible teams.
This will make it that much sweeter if they have to play one of you at some point, and they get whipped.

Yeah, they are mad at the schools who left the Big 12. Don't sweat it, you guys have moved up. You are finally getting your fair share of tv revenue, and you guys were invited because you help with ratings. It is a good mutually beneficial deal. Still some SEC things you need to know, apparently. First, Alabama is not Texas and does not really run the SEC. Despite what some of these LSU fans will have you believe all of the important decisions are voted on by reps of each school. A new member in the conference requires a unanimous vote from each of the schools. Mizzou can veto any attempt to admit Texas as can aTm. Also, though not a rule but more of a policy, the SEC does not ask twice. Texas was asked before the first expansion(in my lifetime at least) and declined as did FSU. They were not asked during the last expansion. Texas is just scared Lock would put up 60 on their pathetic defense. that is what this is really about.

Since Colorado, Texas Light, Nebraska, Missouri have left, their combined CCG record is 0-4.
I guess relying on other programs for revenue is better than competing in sports.

The whorns didn't destroy the shitty SWC. The SWC was doomed to failure because all of it's teams, except one (Arky), were located in the same state in the age of TV contracts. There was no TV market money to be had.
Of those teams, three were private schools with crap programs, zero attendance, zero ticket sales, and zero TV market interest (Rice, TCU, SMU) and SMU had it's program killed by the NCAA (death penalty), while Houston was on probation.
The SWC was never going to survive and their TV money was drying up. Texas was the first to pull the fire alarm and do what the other teams all knew was coming anyway and everybody else yelled "FIRE!" and scattered.

History Lesson for the People who like to live in the land of the Ignorant.
The SWC was created out of the SIAA. The SIAA also birthed the SoCon which ultimately led to the SEC. Texas and A&M were the only SWC members included in the SIAA. When Texas and A&M left the association it was the early 1900's and Birmingham Alabama was the only industrialized city in the South with heavy industry. This is important because Texas and A&M attempted to pull Ole Miss and LSU to the SWC along with them. They had a meeting set up in Dallas but Ole Miss and LSU never arrived and stayed attached with Bama.
Texas invited Arkansas and the Oklahoma schools. I have never found the truthful reasons why the Oklahoma schools left but they left pretty quickly to the MVC which created the Big 8.
Even with Arkansas and Texas schools the SWC for the most of the early 20th century was the conference that all conferences looked to as the premier football conference. It was superior in every aspect because of the rivarlies, location and more importantly the football. Doak Walker, Sammy Baugh, Bobby Layne and Davey O'Brein came out of this conference. Names that are forever memorialized on trophies handed out at the end of the year.
The first blow to the Southwest conference came when the Dallas Cowboys entered the NFL, second came with the introduction of Texas Tech, third came with the introduction of Houston and the final blow came with the introduction of nefarious recruiting tactics first done by Ron Meyer and SMU and then Jackie Sherril and A&M.
The most important blow of them all was the 1984 Supreme Court ruling that gave the right to broadcast games to the universities and not the NCAA. With the universities having control they could bundle the rights to the conferences who then had the ability to sell the rights to television networks like ESPN. The main university behind this was the University of Oklahoma. You have to ask OU why they believed in would be better for them to control their television rights. From everything I heard college football even on the radio was better before the ruling then after.
Texas had nothing to do with the destruction of the Southwest Conference. It was an amazing conference while it lasted but like the Big 8 is has a continued legacy in the Big XII.
The SWC nor the Big 8 will die until the Big XII dies.

I'd give it under-5 years before Texas ran off Alabama the way they did Nebraska from the Big 12.

UT destroys everything they touch.
Posted on 11/30/17 at 6:06 am to Zou brownmajic
Texas doesn't want to play us bc they know we'll skullfrick them on national TV....that's the only reason.
Posted on 11/30/17 at 6:15 am to Zou brownmajic
Just something about being "UT" that makes your school a complete and total dumpster fire these days
Posted on 11/30/17 at 6:35 am to Zou brownmajic
But it's A&M that's afraid to play Texas....
Posted on 11/30/17 at 6:52 am to Zou brownmajic
no one is shocked that longhorns are afraid
Tom Herman has told multiple people he is afraid to lose to an sec team

We may not all be Mizzou fans or TAMU fans but we all hate Texas.

That 31-7 arse whooping issued but by Bert in Houston must still sting

I hope Mizzou plays Texas in a bowl and beats them by 50.
Posted on 11/30/17 at 7:55 am to Zou brownmajic
This is great. Finally Mizzou, A&M and the rest of the SEC can come together and agree on something because we all hate UT. Mizzou is hot right now and it would be unmerciful what they would do to the Longhorns in a bowl matchup and it would be glorious to watch!

Texas is the most arrogant and entitled athletic program in world history. Think about that.
Nobody else comes close.
