Great hire. Mullen could be a thorn in our side at Uf

I will believe it when I see it. Mullen has it made in a low pressure job in Starkville and supposedly he was never well liked in Gainesville but I guess that can change as Florida gets more desperate to find a quality HC.

Mullen is awful

He's what? 2-34 or something against ranked teams at Miss State.

If it wasnt for their easy OOC schedule every year, and having Kentucky as a permanent rival, he wouldnt even be considered for a position at ITT Tech.

Mullen is a great coach. Gets minimal talent at MSU and still puts great teams on the field.

Not sure that says much in the current state of the SEC.

Solid hire. Not scary, but he’s a good football coach

Mullen will win a lot at FLorida. That's a fact. They will be our rival in the division. Missouri could also be scary next year if Drew Lock sticks around.

Flase. Mullen routinely got top 25 classes in Starkville, and had a couple of top 20 classes.

The only teams that have to worry about Mullen at Florida are South Carolina, Kentucky, and maybe Tennessee. Florida will be challenging them for Outback, Music City, and Belk Bowl births in the future.

Florida has already lost their top 2019 commitment. Corral will be gone soon. There is going to be a max exodus of commits out of Gainesville soon.

Maybe I'm wrong but mullen has just never scared me. Kelly or frost at UF woudl have been worrisome but mullen just seems kinda meh. Yes he will surely recruit better there than he has at MSU, and yes they will almost surely get competent QB play which UF hasn't in years. But I mean what's scary about the guy? He was awesome at UF when meyer (one of the top 2 or 3 coaches of the last 15 years in CFB) was HC adn tebow was qb. At MSU he's been good compared to their historical standards but over 9 years he never finished with less than 3 losses. We've never had much trouble with him even in some of our leaner years.

Sure they could've done a lot worse but I dont' really see this as anything to be worried about.

Kevin Sumlin has a better SEC record than Mullen. Sumlin is about to get fired, but Mullen is getting promoted? He also has the worst record in ranked matchups, not in SEC, but in the entire history of the polls.

Ha, ha. Congrats to florida.

I agree with you 100%

in their one year with only 3 losses, the same year they went to No.1 - I kept saying that it was a BS ranking

they had an easier schedule than Wisconsin has this year & struggled with UAB that year

then they got their heads handed to them by GA Tech

he has only won 2 games against ranked opponents - not an impressive hire at all

accolades for getting State out of the basement; but not they guy to dominate at UF

pretty "meh" hire by the Gators

If he hires the right DC, they will undoubtly be a great team. He develops QB's well. I think it is a good hire. At the very least, they will be battling us for the top spot in the East within the next 2-3 years. Although I love what Smart is doing and it will be very difficult for anyone to unseat us

I just don't know if I'd say "great" based on what we know about him. Improved over the dumpster UF is now, sure. But great? Idk.

I agree..it is a "good" hire. But Florida shouldn't be settling for "good". Their top tier, #1, primary target spurned them for a team that isn't even the best football program in its own city. UF really needed to make a home run hire here and I wouldn't say they did that. This feels more like a ground rule double for them. They got the safe guy that used to be a coordinator there that they're familiar with that won't absolutely suck balls but likely isn't going to be anything great either.

I love it, this UF program isn't even close to the spurrier/meyer era UF that struck fear into opponents. After muschamp and mcelwain they needed a splash and they didnt' get it. Who knows how much this will set them back.

My brother was classmates with a guy in UF's press dept. He says Corral is down with Merlins and is sticking with his commitment.
