Norvell is going to coach their conference championship game. Even if it's Norvell it won't be until next week anyway, unless we force his hand.

1 day after firing Bert, you want us to make an impulse decision based on your man crush with a candidate, without vetting all potential candidates or seeing if other candidates pop up on the radar.

Wondering if the alleged red flag(s) with Norvell have caused him to drop down or fall off our board as rumored.

If that is the case, and we all know that rumors can take on a life of their own this time of year, then we are in a predicament.
Gus was the swing for the fences home run hire we wanted, while Norvell was the easy layup we could take if we missed on Gus. If both of them are off the market we are going to have to get into the scrum with other schools looking for coaches.

Yep.
If Norvell doesn’t happen, I’m hopeful we wise up and go after someone like Chad Morris, who pretty much brings everything to the table we need in terms of offensive philosophy and Texas recruiting connections.
Understanding he hasn’t won at a huge clip at SMU (it’s SMU for Gods sake), he’s steadily turned that program around and has them bowling this year. However, I worry that the NEZ expansion is clouding the judgement of the PTB and that they’ll be looking for a splash name hire like Kiffin in order to juice fan enthusiasm because of worry over the bond conundrum of the NEZ.
A guy like Morris night not be a home run, but he’d be a standup double that could be stretched into a triple.
