In February 1982, Bear Bryant and Pat Dye went on a hunting trip to Moundville, AL. Some of the most famous photographs in southern sports history were produced that day.

Wonder if there are any photos of Neyland and Bryant, smoking cigars and downing whiskey shots like water, telling war stories.

Hell if you go into most small country Restaurants/ BBQ Joints in Alabama I would bet a hundo this is on the wall somewhere.
This all happened around a Rabbit Hunt close to the Black Warrior near Moundville.

I remember first seeing it at Dad's BBQ in Anniston, AL and asking my dad why they were hanging out together. It made no sense for me at that age for the head coaches of Alabama and Auburn to be friendly with each other.

Bear never played Neyland when he was at Bama.... he did play him 7 times while he was head coach at Kentucky and Maryland...early in his career... he lost five and tied twice.
However, Bear greatly admired The General and stated that he thought Neyland was the better coach
