Again, you are missing the point. All Chavis has to do is field a "decent" defense if our offense wasn't crippled by a certifiable dumb shite as the HC. Chavis has always had a good defense. His problem at LSU was that their offense sucked.
Anyone that thinks our problems are Chavis isn't paying attention to what is happening at A&M.

Well after firing Sumlin, y'all should make him HC for the next 6 years.
If at first you don't succeed try for 12 years of mediocrity!

All you needed was a top 50 D and it was gameover for everyone else. Thats what we were told
I cant wait till Aggie has to pay up for "stealing Chef"

The biggest problem was that the QBs sucked but Chavis' defenses were a sieve late in tight games. And that's with half the D going on to the NFL. His lack of recruiting eventually became a big problem as well.

While I generally agree with this premise, Chavis did not scheme a logical defense with A&M having lost their starting QB and a 34 point lead at the half. The only way UCLA gets back in the game is through passing. Chavis should have double-covered key receivers and forced UCLA to run the ball and chew up clock. UCLA would have scored some TD's no doubt, since the A&M offense was completely inept in the 2nd half, but the Bruins would have probably run out of time having been forced to run the ball.

Didn't his defense give up 5 straight touchdown drives?
