Check cashing etiquette

What do you do when someone tells you to wait for a certain day before cashing a check?
I cash it as soon as I get it, regardless of what they say. Don't give it to me if you don't have the money.

Depends upon how important they are to you, I suppose. Cause they're not going to think much of you later.

That's a good way to get whoever gave you a check to hate you.

Actually I don't think that you can prosecute a bad check that was taken with the knowledge that it wasn't valid when exchanged.

The writer of the check should be smart enough to post-date it.

Post dating doesn't work like people think it does. Once you sign the check it's negotiable.

A lot of banks won't take it until that date though

i tell them to just give me cash instead then i mobile banking check the check to my account before they come get it and get the money twice

Friend or family member and they need a week or so? No problem!
Aquatiance or customer/supplier needs a week or so? Maybe if I trust him, or appreciate their business.
