He has. His campaign strategy was in part to play on fear and prejudice...and he had been doing so for many years (such as his nonsensical "birther" strategy years prior). David Duke put it best in his tweet yesterday: "We are determined to take our country back, We are going to fulfill the promises of Donald Trump. That's what believed in. That's why we voted for Donald Trump."

Trump intentionally appealed to these people as well as the more mainstream, closet bigots...which is why Trump is having to balance a fine line about calling them out. Duke is right; this is a part of his base. They love him for a reason!

I'm not a Trump fan...but it is the left that said he was going to throw gays into camps and deport all Mexicans. It was the left who claimed violence against Muslims that were later found to be false. It was also the left that said conservatives want to do away with Medicaid and Social Security. It's always easy to paint false pictures, but lets not act as if the left hasn't been preying on fears for many, many years, and continue to do so today.
