you're a white supremacist, you absolutely have the right to protest, but you don't have the right to protection from a well deserved arse beating.
So if you have certain beliefs the police shouldn't protect you?
wow....who are the Nazi's again?
Time to get real.
If you really support that attitude you're asking for them to show up armed and ready for conflict at the next rally - which is what the agitators want. Stir the pot and send in the radicals to have an all out gunfight. Then focus on the white nationalists as the cause.
Once a major skirmish breaks out, then the government can step in and start legislating speech to protect the people from these hate mongers. They may even start locking up anyone that is part of the alt right....which can be made to be anything they want it to be.
Wake up.

Not at all the point I was making. I was saying that yes, people have the right to free speech without the threat of being locked up for what you say, but too many people think free speech entitles you to freedom from all consequences of what you say. If you want to go out on the street spewing Nazi type rhetoric, that's your right, but don't be surprised if someone clocks you right in the face.

Sounds like we've got a few folks who are...ahem...a bit sympathetic to the beliefs and objectives of these neo-Nazi/fascist/white supremacists groups and couching it as some sort of high minded concern about Constitutional rights to free speech.
I'm going to bet that when some left-wing group is marching/protesting, or if a member of an ethnic minority group suffers some kind of unjust treatment, you don't voice any concerns about their rights.
Not buying the "Nazis as victims" and "We're just trying to protect the free speech" b.s. Admit to your leanings and call it a day.

The police are under no duty to protect *anyone* except people in their custody. There are Supreme Court decisions on that one.

lol.... So the right wing nut jobs in Nazi garb who are all converging on the little college town to prance around with their tiki torches aren't agitators...but the people who show up to counter-protest them are?
That's some pretty stretched logic to get around the fact that you clearly have more affinity for the "right" than to the "left" when it comes to whatever these groups represent.
Best thing that could be done when the Nazi loons show up somewhere for an assembly is actually to have no one else show up...no counter protestors, no media, no one. Because it is actually they who are seeking confrontations and attention - not the other way around. Unfortunately, there are always folks on the other side who can't resist.
