It is what it is.
I know that the rest of the SEC would like for us to be 2-10 every year so this bothers them.
But I will point out two things.
You list 2009 Georgia Tech as a mediocre opponent. They were the ACC Champions that year. You also list a 10-win Oklahoma State in 2013 as "mediocre."
My definition of mediocre would be a 7-5/6-6 Power 5 team, not teams that won their Power 5 conference or won 10 games and lost a game to their rival or would have won their conferemce.
In two of the seasons that you mentioned, State's schedule strength was top in the SEC. In another two, it was top three in the conference.
Here's a tidbit for you. Only one team in the history of college football has played seven games against 10-win teams in the same season. 2013 Mississippi State. And in 2009, State played a six game stretch where they had to play five 10-win teams.
Mississippi State's 2017 schedule is ranked 15th toughest by ESPN FPI. Yes, Georgia is 4th, but 15th is not an easy schedule by any means.

To have a fan of an SEC East team lecture about cupcakes is ironic.
The East is the weaker division, no doubt. But MSU has zero room to talk by virtue of playing Kentucky every single year. You get THE WEAKEST program in the East on an annual basis.

Well of course that is their strategy. I happen to think it is a damn good one. They are not a traditional power. Their scheduling provides them with a 5-7, 6-6 floor on their down years that their base can live with. Being a consistently bowl eligible team (not the historical norm for them) provides them with a bump in giving for facility upgrades as well as something to tout in recruiting. The strategy has obviously worked. Facilities and recruiting have improved, their fan base is now disappointed by 6 win seasons (for most of their history 6 wins would greatly please them).
In a nutshell, this is how you build something from nothing in college football. Eventually, if the plan continues to work, it will be necessary for them to upgrade their level of non-conference competition. But I don't think that time is now, and obviously they don't either.

And Georgia is 12-7 against the SEC West during the same time period. What is MSU's record against the West?... Oh that's right, 15-30

You single out Kentucky as a bad team to play. Guess who else gets to play Kentucky every year? Georgia. They also get to play Mizzou and Vandy every year. I suppose playing Auburn every year helps UGA's schedule difficulty, but guess who else plays Auburn every year? State.
But I do respect UGA playing the likes of Nichols St, La Monroe, Southern U, Charleston Southern, and App State. A real murderer's row.
UGA usually plays one bigger marquee game but also has the luxury of playing Vandy, Mizzou, SC, UT, and FL rather than Arkansas, A&M, Ole Miss, LSU and Bama. I'd say it evens out in most years.

Oh wow! It's another episode of "An Ole Miss fan role plays as a fan of another SEC school because they are ashamed of Ole Miss."
Yes. You got me. My nearly 1800 posts over the last 3 years have been a long, giant ploy to get to this very moment.

The only two schools that have a good record against the SEC West are Alabama and LSU.
Georgia has the 2nd best winning percentage against the SEC West since the '92 expansion... better than LSU's.
In fact, Georgia has 45 regular season wins against the SEC West since 1992, and we don't even reside in that division. How many SEC West wins does MSU have since 1992?..... 40. Five fewer than Georgia despite playing twice as many games.

No other SEC schools would play such a cream puff schedule as MSU.
Agreed

He could go to Florida and have infinitely better resources, but that advantage would be cancelled out by having to play Florida State every single year.
Eh, I still feel like this is an overreaction to him being rated so high. He can be overrated and still be a good coach. I think you have always made good points when it comes to his record vs the top 25 but I think you are reaching when you say he couldn't win at a bigger program. You have to also keep in mind that he is going to be naturally overrated due to the lack of impressive coaches in the SEC atm.

The argument for Mullen has always been, "Imagine what he could do at a better program." The problem is all better programs would give him a much tougher schedule.
And he would have much better talent, right? That seems to be lost in all of this.

Pffft, playing Auburn every year.
Schitzo Auburn teams and shitty ole miss and Arkansas teams.
What I find funny is you're comparing your program to MSU. Here's a pat on your back.

What State thinks about UGA and their feelings

1980 was 37 years ago.
Mississippi State is not a traditional powerhouse, but I have news for you...UGA isn't either.

No, MSU's "premiere" OOC opponent over the course of the last 8 years has been "mediocre". Those two were the two best teams you played in that spot, and you lost both. But in the other six seasons under Mullen, the best OOC team you played each year were 2010 Houston (5-7), 2011 La Tech (8-5), 2012 MTSU (8-4), 2014 UAB (6-6), 2015 Southern Miss (9-5), and 2016 BYU (9-4).
The average of all those plus 2009 GT and 2013 OK State is a very mediocre "premiere" OOC opponent.

This guy gets it. We have to build consistent winning over a long period to elevate our program. You don't get donations and recruiting success by winning the SOS title. Why does that bother the OP? It's a good business strategy for the athletic department.

Dang someone got grinded. All this trash talk Georgia must have been really successful recently? Number one in the cfp ranking? No? Top 4? Still no?

This is all true. Basically Mullen has tried to be the Vanderbilt of the SEC west.
Think about that.
Think about that.
