Interesting that an Alabama fan of all people would start this thread. Especially something that happened roughly a decade ago.

I know you guys don't pretend to read very much down there, but don't worry, I got you. Let's see what we got.

Hypocrite: A person who indulges in hypocrisy.
synonyms: pretender, dissembler, deceiver, liar, pietist, sanctimonious person, plaster saint; informalphony, fraud, sham, fake
"I've been made to feel inadequate my whole life by someone who turns out to be a total hypocrite"

Now that we've gotten that out of the way. Let's have some fun.

quote:

There's stupid, and then there's “Crimson Tide stupid.”

quote:

This, says Fox Sports radio host and longtime SEC blogger Clay Travis, is par for the course with Crimson Tide fans.

With most schools, he said, a small minority of bad fans make the vast majority look bad.

“Alabama is the exact opposite,” he said, suggesting that only 15 percent of them are smart enough to attend the school. “You put together the dumbest people in the country, and you end up with the dumbest fan base in America.”

The state's educational system isn't great, he says, so many of the fans start out as knuckleheads. Add to that the lack of professional sports teams in a state that's obsessed with sports, and you end up with Bama Fans.

quote:

The most recent example occurred in College Station last week, when a construction worker was fired for hanging a Crimson Tide flag from the renovations at Texas A&M's Kyle Field.

It was a funny prank, but he got fired, so that made it stupid. Then Bobby Livingston doubled-down on his dumbassery by claiming, on Facebook, that he sabotaged the iron work in the northeast part of the student section.Either Livingston is lying about threatening to kill thousands in order to lash out, or he's a terrorist who plans to kill thousands. He also posted pictures of a stadium seat that he stole from the project, so that's another felony.

And that, my friends, is a prime example of Crimson Tide stupid.

quote:

Adrian Briskey, 28, gunned down Michelle Shepherd, 36, after Auburn beat Alabama on Nov. 30. Both were Tide fans, but Briskey was angry that Sheppard wasn't upset enough about the loss.

quote:

The mom of a 16-year-old Bama fan went Jet Li on a group of Oklahoma fans, all young men, for taunting her son during the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 2, which OU won 45-31. Michelle Pritchett was ejected from the game.

quote:

Two Crimson Tide fans started a fight in a West Palm Beach, Florida, bar after their team beat Texas A&M on Sept. 14. They got stabbed for their efforts, but were able to punch a retiree so hard that he suffered life-threatening injuries. The stabber wasn't charged, but Tide fan Tommy Dewitte Reeves was.

quote:

Bama fan Heath McDonald, arrested on drug charges May 21, was asked about it as he walked past TV cameras moments later. McDonald, wearing Crimson Tide pajama pants, responded “I'm innocent. Roll Tide!”

quote:

Tide diehard Brian Downing, 33, was sentenced to two years in prison in late November after pleading guilty to two counts of obscenity. Downing was caught on video exposing his genitalia and simulating a sex act on a man passed out at a Bourbon Street restaurant after Alabama's 21-0 win over LSU in the BCS championship game in 2012.

quote:

Alabama tree hater Harvey Updyke was sent to prison in 2013 for a 2010 incident in which he poisoned oak trees at Toomer's Corner, a sacred spot for Auburn fans.

quote:

“The more dumb people you have,” Travis said, “the dumber things they do.”

Take, for example, the Crimson Tide fan who sucker-punched former LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger in a Nashville, Tennessee, bar over the weekend. No charges were filed, and Mettenberger is OK.

quote:

Travis, as you might imagine, shares his opinion when asked. As a result, his opinion gets reinforced with every angry call, tweet and email from unhappy Alabama football fans. I've seen some of those responses, and I'm here to tell you that they might make a lesser man question the existence of a higher power, or at the very least, of common sense.

Alabama Kicker scared for his life after receiving death threats and angry tweets

I'm sorry that your entire life revolves around searching for unflattering articles about Bama fans. And that you quote the obviously unbiased Clay Travis. And 10 in a row.

Sorry, not sorry.

Whataboutism is a propaganda technique first used by the Soviet Union, in its dealings with the Western world When Cold War criticisms were levelled at the Soviet Union, the response would be "What about..." followed by the naming of an event in the Western world. It represents a case of tu quoque (appeal to hypocrisy),a logical fallacy that attempts to discredit the opponent's position by asserting the opponent's failure to act consistently in accordance with that position, without directly refuting or disproving the opponent's initial argument.
