I'd rather have hockey or soccer.

It is the fastest growing youth sport

Is rugby a NCAA sport?

Another 20 years and it will be up there. It's taking a toll on baseball.

I'd prefer female beach volleyball, down by the river.

LSU would be phenomenal in mens soccer. South LA for whatever reason has great soccer. There have been multiple different schools ranked #1 in the nation for high school recently. The players all end up at Maryland or duke or other schools further north due to no soccer colleges in the south
This couldn't be more wrong.
Yeah, we've somehow created 3 Herman Award winners ... But outside of those 3 guys the rest of Louisiana soccer is very very poor.

That could mean you've had all of two very strong teams

I think it's a club sport in most places.

High school soccer means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Collegiate coaches don't even recruit high school soccer.
Development Academies are mainly what matter.

Oak Mountain in Alabama was #1 in the nation in 2005. Didn't mean shite. My team was the only team that tied them that year and we lost to them in the finals. We didn't have anyone that could have made it onto a good college team.

No doubt but if you are a G5 program wasting $8 million a year on a football program that cant draw flies, why not take the risk?

Those schools would really struggle recruiting. They don't have a ton of national appeal, and there aren't enough players in the south to supply competive programs after the UVAs and UNCs of the world cherry-pick the best ones.

I was lucky enough to play it in high school. Had a blast.
We actually had people from other schools nearby come and be able to play because their school didn't have teams yet. Most of them do now.
He still totes his long sticks around in the bed of his truck
I'd totally be in favor of SEC lacrosse

I couldn't have said it better myself. With that being said, the SEC should add Men's Soccer

Thing is , with as much money coming in not to just SEC schools but the other P5 programs, there really shouldn't be an NCAA sport not at any of those schools.
And Not trolling Bama, because Saban clearly is worth the money, but he ain't going any where. Does he need to make 12 mil, how about 8 and add some more sports.
And this goes for every other school out there as well.
UNC is not in the top 25 in revenue, that means they make less than 95m, they pay Williams and Fedora a combined 4.1m
And they have an improving football team and are great in everything else baseball, basketball, lax, soccer.... and on and on.
It just seems natural add more sports and more programming , make more money, provide other avenues to promote your school.

We need Soccer all day. The south has the athletes just not proper coaching outside of maybe a few select places. This would get more kids interested and stay interested. Competition with incentives like scholarships to big schools would make soccer better on the youth level all the way up to pros... Besides no one watches Lacrosse on a global level. Make American Soccer Great Again!
