I'm as big a Saints fan as I am an Alabama fan and I love the AP signing.

The Saints won last year when they ran the ball. They lost when they threw it 50 times a game.

Mark will still be the starter, but this will help keep him fresh down the stretch and hopefully limit the nagging injuries he's gotten the last couple seasons.

In the long run this is good news for Ingram. It keeps him from taking on a huge amount of carries and will extend his career.

And for the most part the intelligent Saints' fans love Ingram. The ones who hate him are the small minded retards like Lilpickles and Rohan Gravy who couldn't find their dick with a microscope.

On Adrian Peterson: His expected salary from #Saints of $3.25M will be less than Mark Ingram makes in '17. NO is respectful of Ingram's role

The Saints also didn't have anyone at RB behind Ingram since Tim Hightower signed with the 49ers. In addition they had millions in cap space left over so why not sign AP?

I think it's a really good signing for them.

AP is not a better option. The Saints said he is going to be the backup to Ingram.

Also, if I'm not mistaken it is only $3.5 mil guaranteed with no money guaranteed in Year 2. So basically you can cut AP with no negative after the first year.

Why sign Adrian Peterson to any team? He's going to demand big bucks to sit out every game with injury and then bring negative press to the team through child abuse and/or pouting about any number of issues.

Wish Ingram had been drafted by a competently operated franchise.

Ingram will be making more money than Peterson.

3.5 million makes him the 22nd highest paid running back. That's only 500k less than Ingram, and a lot for a backup. I think they would've been better off trying to draft a running back in the 2nd or 3rd round. That would've cost about 2 million less, and this class of RBs is pretty deep.

When the Saints won the SB, they had Pierre Thomas, Reggie Bush, and Mike Bell. Probably what they will get back to this year. Ingram has been productive, but he's also had his problems with injuries. AP has too, so this is a bit of a risk. Good news for the Saints is that they have a hall of fame QB to back them up if the worst scenario comes to fruition...and it keeps both AP and MI fresh.

Now we can use those picks on defense instead

The saints dont like ingram because he doesnt fit the scheme. Ingram is a down field funner not a screen or swing route runningback. Saints have not used ingram right.

Ingram is deceptively good as a receiver IMO. In the last two years, he's been more involved in the passing game and has had 7 receptions that have gone for 20+ yards. He's also hauled in over 700 receiving yards in those two years, getting him to over 1000 all-purpose yards. So he fits the Saints scheme, he just has had his own issues with injuries and isn't being left in enough to get into rhythm.
