Yet again, nice argument.

Yea, it seems pretty clear to me. Etling played with 2 great 1st round pick RBs, good WRs and a good O-line. And had 3 years of college experience.
Eason was a true freshman behind a miserable o-line with no playmakers at wide receiver.
Etling is pretty close to his peak, Eason hasn't scratched the surface. You can disagree with their decision but the rationale for it makes pretty good sense.
Once again, here are the numbers:
Eason in starts
54.7%-----191yds/game------1.25tds/g-----0.666int/g----120.2 rating
Etling in starts
60.39%------202.3yds/game------1td/g------0.4int/g----135.6 rating
So lets say Etling improves slightly, as he should being a senior and having a second year starting.
So 63%-----220yds/game----------1.5tds/game-------0.5ints/game-------140 rating
That is realistic improvement
For Eason to be 40 spots higher, you are telling me it is realistic to expect his numbers to be this:
65%--------275yds/game---------2.5tds/game----.5int/game-------150 rating
That would be quite the freaking leap from how he performed last year.

Would you not agree that Eason has more raw talent than Etling? Would you also not agree that players make the biggest jump between their freshman and sophomore years?
Posted on 3/29/17 at 1:26 pm to lsupride87
I'd easily rather have Eason than Etling in 2017.

I'm not sure how this is being argued, even as a LSU fan. Eason is going to be better than Etling.

quote:Yes. But Etling is almost the equivalent of a freshman for LSU. Last year was his first year ever starting here. Yes, he had Purdue experience, but he hadn't started a game in almost 3 years.
Would you also not agree that players make the biggest jump between their freshman and sophomore years?
So equating his progression to the normal Junior-Senior progression is not really applicable.
I have no issuse with Eason being a few spots ahead of Etling, but based on actual production 40 spots isnt logical.
This ranking is more based on what we perceive Eason to be based on recruiting rankings, and what we perceive Etling to be based on LSU qbs in recent past. That is my point

I wouldn't be surprised to see Eason throw for 25 TD / 7 INT this season and a bunch of yards. He was a true freshman starting at QB with limited options around him with defenders in his face the entire season.
That's literally the worst scenario for a QB I can think of.

Once again, struggling with your reading comprehension RB...

And, if you follow his comments enough to have a general sentiment as to how often that he comments about LSU, yeah, I'd say you seem pretty irritated about it
It's not a matter of remembering a user name... it's that you remember the user name, mentally catalog his posts enough to develop a feeling (right or wrong) that he likes to post about LSU, then care enough to make a comment about it specifically and defend it...
In *this thread*, he didn't initiate conversation about LSU, but did offer up a comical reaction to what most (other than full blown LSU homers) would consider a joke or a pretty irrational statement.

Etling at least had better protection and could hand it off more often.

Equating remembering a user and their posting habits with being irritated is the textbook definition of false equivalence. It's now clear you have a very basic grasp of that concept.

In *this thread*, a poster with a well-known LSU-obsession posted about LSU, and was called out on it.
I'm sorry that irritates you so much.

I'd like to see what Allen could do with a mediocre offensive line.
Me too. Allen had several games where he put up some great numbers while being hit on every play. He got beat up and it hurt his performance at the end of the season.

I found myself pulling for the kid and I do not like Arkansas, at all.

If it's enough to warrant you posting about it, then getting upset about getting called on it, clearly something is irritating you... Maybe it's not him... maybe it's just an actual sandy vagina... I dunno?! Either way, I stand by my original assessment as well as my assessment that you struggle to understand why your observations were inaccurate.

"Well known" seems to be a loose definition here... I would say that TS is well known for sharing information around recruiting... As for irritating me, I simply called you on something that must have touched a nerve. You can keep doing it if you want... just acknowledging the obvious... carry on.
