Did we dodge a bullet by not landing Greg Marshall?

After the Shockers' crushing loss to Kentucky, Lynn Marshall was escorted from the stadium by security guards after she started cursing.
Drew Franklin wrote in a post on Kentucky Sports Radio: 'I guess it didn’t make anyone else upset when she told Malik Monk to get in the weight room or told Isaiah Briscoe to buy some bigger shorts or told Calipari to “shut the f*** up” or told Roger Ayers he is garbage or any of the other classy things she yelled between F-bombs.'
Some assumed Lynn was under the influence of alcohol. A reporter for WTVQ tweeted: 'Gregg Marshall's wife is the drunkest individual at Bankers Life... just said "Come On, Let's F@&k some S@$T Up."'

Wow.
And, I think CAJ is a better coach for Bama anyway.

Too bad Auburn didn't get him. Imagine her and Gus' wife on some girls night out.

Let's imagine the mess that would happen at LSU with Marshall and his wife. His wife that close to Bourbon Street would be wonderful

I mean that's not how I would want my coach's wife to act, but this is a basketball coach not an elected official. If he wins, I couldn't give a frick with his dumb arse wife does.

But the problem is he didn't win, and his wife still acted like that lol

Don't get me wrong, I love Avery, but Gregg Marshall has been to the tournament 6 straight years at Wichita State, and gotten them to the final 4. I'm happy with Avery and what he's building, but Marshall will likely be a homerun hire wherever he goes. His wife can do whatever she wants, as long as he's successful.

And yet, Avery beat him in year one of a rebuilding job.
I think Marshall is a good coach, but I don't think he'd do any better at Bama than Avery is doing. Those mid-major conferences mask a lot of flaws for good coaches. They make good coaches sometimes look like great coaches. Then they move up to a bigger school and flounder in mediocrity the majority of the time.

Think about Marshall. He wins 20 or 30 games in a weak conference, comes into the NCAA tourney red hot and his players are all fresh and injury free from not playing anyone. Then they win a game or two maybe even more in the NCAA tourney and then fall short of a title. Another example is Anthony Grant. He took VCU to the tourney and beat Duke. He moved up to Alabama and was nothing more than an NIT coach. Obviously Marshall is better than Grant, but if u put Marshall at Bama, it wouldn't surprise me if was on the bubble every year and only made it in about every 2-3 years

Alabama Basketball needed a BIG personality and a salesman for the program. Someone who can go around the country and sell the program and the University.
I think we got our guy.

Hiring Marshall would've brought excitement bc he's a big name but then it would've faded. Hiring Avery brought excitement bc he's a big name, but it didn't fade bc he knows how to keep the excitement in the fanbase. Also, landing Avery was better bc think of how many recruits we've either landed or just recruited that's said something about they like Alabama bc Avery played/coached in the NBA and they want to make it to the NBA. Marshall wouldn't have had that type of appeal to players
